I had to RMA the first lot due to it erroring during Memtest at 800mhz, and the second lot also failed memtest at 800mhz, Im getting seriously fed up now, Am I allowed to ask for my 2nd RMA to be of a different make of memory like Corsair or G.Skill will I have to pay the difference?

I did ask the guy if he would make sure the second lot of memory could be tested before it was sent to me but he said they couldnt do that, I dont want a third lot of memory from Geil if its gonna crap out on me too! There seem to be a lot of people with problems with it.

Thanks

Andy

Presumably you have done all the recommended things on these forums concerning this RAM? e.g. updating BIOS, entering correct voltage and timings etc

yep set the voltage to 2.1 timings to 4-4-4-12, ddr2 800 but no luck just keeps erroring, however if I change it to ddr2 667 then it runs fine, but its rated at 800 so it should work.

I had a set delivered last week and although they load windows and run programs at spd settings of 5-5-5-18, they fail memtest, orthos, and BSODs at those timings as well as failing at 4-4-4-12 even with 2.0v and 2.1v

I asked tech support if they would exchange it for some slightly more expensive memory (corsair 2gb £200) and I would pay the difference and the reply was NO I dont know how to put an exchange thru on the system.

They also stated my original memory tested okay so maybe they sent the same lot back to me?

Please OCUK admit there is a problem with this memory and dont keep fobbing us off. I expect better service than this from a company that is making millions out of us.

Someone please sort this out!!

that is unimpressive service, it makes me worried about sending my kit back. I'm setting up a memtest86 disk as we speak.

Speaking of unimpressive service........
I ordered said memory along with a C2D 6300 and a Gigabyte DS4 just before Xmas. The setup ran (sort of!) for a week before getting numerous blue screens/errors etc.
Rang OC and was told they had had a bad batch of DS4 boards recently, his advice was to return the board for a replacment.
However, I have been told today that the board has been sent back to me as it is working fine! So I've paid for delivery to them, a testing charge and delivery back to me (approx £30)!!!
I'm no closer to a solution either!
I've done the usual stuff like voltage, timings, BIOS etc.
Sorry to hijack the thread but it seems this could be memory related also, though doubt OC will see it that way

Any ideas from anyone here would be greatly appreciated!

oh god well my ram failed memtest too so im gonna try and 800 4-4-4-12 2.1 and 2.0 if it fails then me and ocuk are gonna have to have words on the phone :/

it means pc downtime getting a second stick that craps out in memtest at its rated speed is a NO go area for me personally. i too bought basically my entire rig of em at xmas so if second stick isnt perfect id plan on looking my money back.

but here hoping it passes.

report back tomorrow

maybe the DS4 user and yourself ^^ motherboards are just picky when it comes to memory? i know corsair generally across the board work perfectly albeit may not be the best overclocking memory.
