Hi guys got my Opty 2 days ago and i swapped it with my 3700SD and put same settings 255x11 with stock volts. primed it only for 2 hours, 3dmark05, pcmark 05. sissandra, everest

load temps are upto 63 each core and idel is 40-43 on 1 core and 34-36 on other

Using Ninja with 120mm fan @1200RPM (kept [email protected] 1.48 vore at 49 load)

A8n SLI Premium
OCZ platinum DDR400 2Gb kit 2-3-2-5
6800 Ultra 425 core 1.1 ram
120GB Sata, 120GB IDE, 250 Sata
Tagan 480watts PSU
XP Pro and Vista Ultimate

I'v reseated the HSF but it took off 2*C but temps are high.

Bad ISH maybe or i need a faster fan, ordered a 1300-2800 thermaltake with a controller (120mm fan)

at 2.8Ghz

Got bored and set the cpu to 3Ghz with 1.38vcore

temps are high 66-68 load but cpu stable and when i get a faster fan should be better. idle is around 43-47 for 1 core and 38-43 other

i posted else where and they suggested lappin, but looks risky to me

snip because i didnt want to quote the pics :p :p

firstly NICE ! results. (what is the full stepping ?)

secondly... my single core opteron was shocking, 58c load at stock. anyway i popped the ihs off and now its only 52 load with 1.53v so in my case it made a huge difference.

i know you have to be more careful with dual cores because the little chips are closer to the edge so takes more time... so yes it is a huge risk that i would not advise doing unless you are really set on lowering temps.

lapping could work if the ihs is concave/convex i guess you could find this out by looking at how good the contact with the heatsink makes.

just do your homework before you try anything.

everest mainly. whats tcase max? and on everest there is 3 cpu tem

cpu which changes very slowly, cpu1 core 1 and cpu 1 core 2

how comes and i think my everest got the cores mixed up.

when did i say snip? LOL

Download coretemp, everest lies, your real cpu temp could be much higher (or lower for that matter)

tcase is the highest temp the cpu should go, bad things happen afterwards, like fires or small nuclear explosions.

i think it would do more, i too scared to pop the top cos the ninja might not make contact LOL

Oh bought another 6800 ultra gonna sli it, hope my psu can power 2 plus everything else i got.

CCEBBE 0617EPMW full stepping

Your confused with Tcasemax.

Tcasemax is the maximum temperature the outer part of the CPU can get to. not the internal "die" area.

The 170 I've ordered is CCBBE 0615EPMW, I hope it's not that toasty :(

Good stuff, memtested ram@229 with 273x5 so i the ram can go bit higher which means i could go higher with cpu or use CnQ LOL

currently testing (ortgos) testing with cnq on, for some reason its using 1.34-1.36 (CPUZ) this is stock right?

coretemp, RM cpu clock say 1.35 vcore

Really? is there any relation between that and the max die temp?

done orthos with 1.35 vcore. so 3ghz@stock volts temps 66-68 Load but 66 most of the time, i changed the direction of the 2 side(of case) pci/pcie fans blowing out

have stopped the test, need a game of css
3ghzstockv2idlegi2.jpg

When i get new fan and if the temps are better will try to get more out of cpu.

Edit, just when into bios and double checked settings and disabled CnQ 1.328-1.344 vcore and coretemp shows 1.3vcore

now doing orthos again to see temps and they seem to be better and cpu Z reading 1.344

CCBBE EPMW is certainly a good stepping, as I've got 2.8GHz on stock volts currently :) Temps are nice and low too (25c and 30c), 3GHz here I come!

got my new fan temps are better, gonna do orthos to get load temps.

1 core is higher then other but i did few search and found this is normal

tried 3.2Ghz no go, so gonna stick with 3Ghz, cant complain its on stock vcore

It's not going to do 3ghz at stock volts. Will need at least 1.5 and that would be surprising.

its 3ghz now @1.35vcore under 58*C load with new fan. stock is 1.30-1.35.
vcore wont jump because its set in bios

He says he is at 3ghz at stock volts...

Is that stable though?

EDIT: I was late, but is it 100% stable? Damn, I want your chip!! :p
