IP-95 and an E4300 ?

I had to click on the IP-95 bit to get it to open, but this motherboard is looking very good indeed.

yep only downside seems to be no SATAII, but thats a moot point really

ordered cpu and mobo and a Sugo :)

And the via chipset .. seems to be very mixed results with oc'ing these boards interested to see how u get on :)

so far not so good, max fsb for me is 320 ish, no dual channel ddr2 and no vcore adjustment visible :(

for a laugh I stuck the 4300 in my Shuttle and using clockgen I have selected 400 fsb [3.6 gig] and managed to get it to run super pi 1 meg in 16.5 secs, with +0.15v in vcore :)

I am just about to make a move from my P4 shuttle based system (I'm still living in the stone ages :p) to a Sugo SG01 coupled with a 4300 hoping to get a little extra out by OC'ing it. Although there don't appear to be any decent OC capable m-atx boards available - will the IP-95 suffice until something better comes along, probably coupled with a 8800GTS?

I don't mean to hijack but since the system will be a completely new build would it be wise to get some DDR2 RAM so that I could benefit from the extra speed if a better mobo comes along?

knowing what I know now and bearing in mind the complete lack of substatiated claims or explanations of high fsb's on this board I'd say leave it and get a 965 chipset matx board, the MSI one is around £70, and you get 7.1, dual channel ddr2 and an intel chipset.

the IP-95 is good value if you have some older components and want to get into core2duo on a budget, some will love it, some wont, and keep an eye on the MM :), based upon my results in my Shuttle SD37P2, I'd say putting an E4300 in a board that doesn't offer at least 400 fsb is a travesty

update, looks like I've messed up on this one as well :( , I was reading the review on the full 965 chipset atx one, the matx version looks like it has less options than the Abit for overclocking.

I had a look around today and the MSI didn't seem too hot :(

I'm kinda stuck since I need a new PC in the next few weeks and really want to stay with SFF and the IP-95 seems like a good choice to pass time until something better comes along!
 
OK spent some more time today with the IP-95, bios detects e4300 as a 9x multiplier, but only multiplies by 7 !!!. I set fsb to 300, which should have given me 2.7 gig, it actually set it to 2.07 !!!, cpu-z 1.38 fails to initialise, took me umpteen attempts to install the OS at moderate overclocks [bearing in mind I had e4300 running in my shuttle at 400fsb]. Bizarrely, if I leave fsb at default it sets it to the correct 1.8 gig.

Since thrown system into the corner in disgust, my MSI didn't arrive today either so feeling pretty sorry for myself right now, and to cap it all it's my birthday :(

So based upon my experiences I would give some serious thought before you plan using an e4300 or e6300 with any thought of overclocking.


I put my own review on OCUK IP-95 webpage listing of this board, but it has not been posted by whoever moderates the reviews yet, and no-one has imparted any info on how to get the speeds mentioned in the other 3 reviews.

If the review info is accurate I'll wait with baited breath, and humbly apologise for my above warning, but if it isn't OCUK need to update it and name and shame the reviewers IMHO. Of course I may have a knackered mobo, but its hard to deduce this if no-one else with said board is prepared to comment. :(
 
Stephen, can I wish you a very happy birthday and say thanks for saving me (for a change) from spending £40 on something that was less wonderful than it appeared.

I've just come across this board (Asus P5B-MX) but cannot find any information about it. Hopefully it won't suffer like other Asus boards due to a limit on the PCI-e lock.
