I have a 6600 cpu accompanied with the retail heatsink/fan. Do you find it noisy?

I think the noise is coming from there, its like a droning sort of noise!

can't tell for sure as i installed the freezer 7 before of even trying the stock fan
Same here, but previous processors with stock fans were really noisy, so this time i didn't even bother with the stock fan :p

Yeah the stock heatsink that came with the E6600 was quite noisy even compared to the Arctic Freezer 7 pro, the fan they used makes a sort of ticking sound.

Got mine running at stock at the moment, waiting for my 775 watercooling bracket before I overclock and I was actually surprised at the noise the fan makes... i thought it would be louder.

I think the word Stock gives it away ! i guess they have to give some form of fan if its a retail pack ,and like the AMD fans i use to get with the xP Athlon CPUS they were pretty dam naff putting it mildly !

I don't think its too bad. However getting rid of my whining 7800GT might have something to do with it!

Couldn't get on with those 'push-in' legs on the heat sink! What happened to the good old clips of old? I could feel my lovely P5W DH buckling  !

Most motherboards bow when the 775 stock cooler is fitted.
It's not normally an issue and the pcb tracks are fine.
Not like the good old days of printed circuit boards that cracked under the slightest pressure.
