Hey up,

I've just been into overclockers shop and bought a copy of Home Premium retail and the DVD says "This disc contains 32-bit software only"?

I thought retail has both 32 & 64 bits included on the same DVD?

It's deffo not the upgrade disc as the guy behind the counter showed me both and the upgrade has it written on the box in the top left corner.

I've got a picture off my phone but i don't know how to post pics?

I'm trying to ring them now but it's constantly engaged?

Are there not two discs that come with the retail copy? Both 32bit and 64bit?

You can upload your image imageshack

Once you've uploaded, copy the code for the thumbnail image #1 for forums. (Called something like that)

Yes what does it say? I'm very surprised both discs aren't in the box as standard. What did you pay, £200-odd? I hope it is free to get the 64-bit disc.

Only the Ultimate (full and upgrade) Retail package comes with the two DVDs versions, the other ones come with instructions on how to obtain the 64bit as you might have noticed.

Quoting from Vista newsgroups:

"By: Colin Barnhorst In: microsoft.public.windows.vista.general"

"To clarify the other responses, x86 and x64 are included in both the
Ultimate full and upgrade sku's. Instructions for getting an x64 dvd are in
the other editions."

I know i can follow the instructions, but that isn't the point is it, we've been told the retail is supposed to have 32 & 64 bits on the DVD at point of purchase.

I want to install 64 bits now and i can't, it says "To order your alternate media, you will need to provide your product key and contact information where we can send your new media."

I've paid £211 for something i can't use until the new disc arrives, which could be a number of weeks.

I know i could install the 32 bit version now and when the 64 bit one arrives uninstall the 32 and then install the 64 but that isn't the point is it?

We have been told they will come with both!!

Thats rubbish, really awful. Glad i stuck to OEM now.

What the!!! I ordered Vista Home Premium which is to come tomorrow on the premise 64 bit is in there as that's what I actually want to install... I don't care for 32bit at all.. What the hell!

I ordered

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit & 64-Bit Edition DVD - Retail (66I-00017)

Just checked which one I bought and it clearly says "32-Bit & 64-Bit Edition DVD" so what's up with that?

This is darn right cheeky!
I assume i could use the Ultimate 64bit VLK media from work and enter my HP key from there?
I wish this had of been clear from the start..

Wow - this is very important indeed. This should be included in the 99% Vista questions sticky.

I was going to buy retail but went for OEM instead. I would have been quite pieved if I'd opened the box to see no 64 bit DVD.

I'd say that OcUK should update their product info to make the situation clear on this issue as it will surprise a lot of people.

Hi there

We were not informed of this and neither was any other Etailor by the looks of things, terrible way of doing business from Microsoft.

Anybody who is not happy about this we have no issue with taking back un-opened software that still has the security tag in place and all seals un-broken.

If however you have broken the seals and therefor accepted the license there is nothing we can do.

Our descriptions have been updated.

It's really annoying!!!

I imagine now i've removed the seal i won't be able to take it back and swap it for another version etc, i'll just have to install the 32 bit versi

To order the 64 bit version you apparently have to go to:-

www.windowsvista.com/1033/ordermedia

I've tried this and it doesn't work, i assume the site won't go live until the official release date at the earliest.

Pic of leaflet that comes with it
