So you really think Vista is that good??

So which bit is rubbish??All very well offering us us your erudite wisdom from on high, but considering the person who wrote that paper has actually managed to master the English language and all you can manage is a feeble grunt why should i take your word over theirs?

Because the web is always flooded with this biased, anti-MS crap every time they laumch a new OS.

An example of this might be nVidia TNT2 video cards, which are still very widely deployed in business environments where they're all that you need to run

I never seen a desktop pc in business (that still use these and the ones that do would not run vista anyway ) and are prob min specs for xp

Silly agument

The part were it says HD and Blu arry will not play on vista??

Last time i check as long as you have a HDCP GPU and TFT there no problems and the software playback IE cyberlink dvd theres no problems

Even reed that off microsoft support for HD playback with the little * there

Then in small letters

Need to have HDCP support for GPU and TFT also software (something along them lines not going to go of find it now)

Also to add on that part they said they test this in beta with nvidia cards
last time i check the old beta driver's was limited and did not support HDCP yet

ALso even in the new driver realse notes it says there still isuse with it be will be sorted in up and comming releases

So are you saying that the bit about your SPDIF being disabled is just rubbish?? Cos most of the professional audio programme developers are hardly rushing to embrace Vista.. and thats where i make my living..

My own take on it is that, given the speed computers are progressing at, a 64 bit OS is a busted flush and that the whole shenanigans could end up as being as embarrassing to MS as Win98 was...

The bottom line is that, the people who spend a fortune on software, and don't just use their computers as glorified TVs and Playstations are so far, hardly enamoured with the whole thing. To the extent that Vista is already doing sterling service for the sales of Macs..

Me personally, i can happily turn out professional sounding recordings on XP and the software and hardware i use doesn't need a whole new layer of blather from MS choking up the system competing with it for resources simply cos someone is paranoid i might be watching a knock off version of the remake of the remake of the remake of some overblown Hollywood rubbish.

My work computer never goes near the net so the chances of a virus are restricted to some kind of weapon that eats aluminium. My other computer is used for surfing..If i want to watch a DVD , funnily enough, i use a 30 quid DVD player that will play discs made anywhere in the world and for any market.

All i ask for from and OS is that, it works with the software i use, and doesn't spend most of its cycles being paranoid about what i am watching or doing...

In the end you have all the software you like coming out of your wazoo... the bottom line is, the vast majority of peoples soundcards wouldn't even make it as an ashtray in even the humblest of studios. So why would i want to try and watch and listen to HD discs through it for anything other than casual listening?

The danger to MS as i see is, as non partisan person , is this.. That in attempt to do everything, they will as usual, end up doing nothing that well and a hell of a lot of things actually quite badly and that someone else will nip and design a low level OS that works perfectly in the typical home entertainment setup without assuming the user is a criminal simply because it was made to pander to a small cadre of money men in Hollywood ...

i bet half the people who are "perfectly happy" not moving from xp sp2 were the ones that were "perfectly happy" with w2k sp4 and would never move etc etc.

its just a matter of time tbh.

If you don't like Vista, fine, it's simple, don't use it. But why try and alienate everyone into your way of thinking?

Yawn. An immense document telling me why I shouldn't like Vista. It's sad that someone should spend so long writing such pointless drivel. If I like or dislike it I'll decide for myself, I don't need that to tell me.

Why are you worried about DRM restrictions on HD content if your producing your own music on Vista. The DRM restrictions only kick on DRM protected HD content. I don't understand why you think it will bother you.

If your happy with XP then be happy you have saved yourself a couple of hundred quid by not having to install Vista. You even have the option of using Atari ST's if you hate MS that much. Or even a Mac.

Here you go Firemoon, I just know you will love this site, I just know it. http://badvista.fsf.org/
More BS for you to quote.

It's more than likely to be. But tbh, for the price, Vista really isn't worth it (I get it free though ;)) :p

yeah i hate how other people are telling people to like/dislike it based on their own experiences, let each person decide for themselves!

How do you expect to get a non biased view from a microsoft employee though? You can't.

Una: No you can't get an unbiased view from a microsoft employee.

Then again there is no such thing as an unbiased view. Every single thing you ever read or listen to is biased in some way. It's down to you as a reader/listener to discern the bias and obtain other sources of information with different bias so as to form your own opinion of the matter.

MAKE YOUR OWN MINDS UP SHEEPLE!
