Over the last 24 hours I have went from being reasonably happy to completely hating the POS

sick sore and tired of it asking for drivers that it already has on boot.

Does it for my MS wireless desktop set. I downloaded the drivers it said to, did bugger all.

Installed the VISTA drivers for my MS VX-6000 webcam. When the comp boots, IT STILL asks for drivers for it, if I press ask me later the webcam functions fine (or so it seems).

If I try to capture audio, video, or alter the settings with the audio or video on the webcam i get a BSOD.

Seriously, I am using MS drivers for MS PRODUCTS. I used the same wireless KB+M on a hacked vista ultimate copy before xmas. Didn't get this problem. I used the XP drivers for the webcam and while I couldnt alter the settings and stuff I could still use it in msn messenger and I think the mic still worked.

Right now Im backing everything I need (all the applications and drivers) up to my secondary drive, going to wipe the first, and hopefully a clean install will fix this.

Seriously, I didn't get these issues with ultimate before christmas so why now?

Well, Im pretty No swearing! off that the brand new vista drivers for the webcam are causing it to crash. Even bluetooth not working i can deal with.

But the constant GIVE ME THIS DRIVER NOW. I DONT CARE THAT I ALREADY HAVE IT AND DONT TELL ME TO SEARCH FOR IT BECAUSE I WONT FIND IT EVEN IF YOU POINT ME TO THE DIRECTORY IT IS IN is really annoying (and that is literally what the dialogue is like).

It causes my comp to hang for about a minute on boot. Then I have to say ask me again later about three times.

this DID NOT HAPPEN on the copy that I used before xmas. Any drivers that went on, just did what they were supposed to.

Out of curiosity does anyone think that a new install will fix any of this? It definitely didn't bug me about my wireless keyboard and mouse before, and I didn't have the drivers downloaded from ms website. They simply used the generic usb driver like they are supposed to!

Only one way to find out.

"Screw vista RIGHT IN THE ASS!"

Let not talk about screwing and ass shall we? You can do what ever floats you boat.

i cant find a piece of hardware it hasn't managed to find on its own. very rarely i get a bluescreen due to outdated video card graphics but thats because they haven't been released by the company yet

Well, the way you're going your account on here won't last long enough for you to ask anymore advice so if i were you i'd be a little more careful about what you are saying.

I think what's happened to Lister2020 is that he couldn't resist downloading another illegal copy of Vista, probably named RETAIL this time. He probably then deleted his RTM illegal copy thinking he is cool. Seems he is getting his just rewards. :)

i'm gonna wait till my next system build to buy vista, hopefully by then there will be significant updates. the review copy ive had running my shuttle for the last few months was running with no problems.

I assumed you'd be going back to XP. Anyway, these things happen, there is a learning curve and most important check you are using the correct drivers. Don't forge to google to see if anyone else is having the same problem.

Also there's already a thread for Vista niggles.

I bought OEM from overclockers. thats how i found this forum.

I've calmed down this morning, I just can't understand why I am getting these issues.

And as I have stated several times before, it is the 32 bit oem version.

The whole reason I went straight to vista is because my xp media center cd was scratched and would not load. The only way around this that I could think of is if I got a hold of someone elses version and used my installation key. Would this work?

If Vista still gives me issues, I will try to get a dual boot going.

And sorry for my language, I didn't realise that a** was considered a bad word here.

Should do.

It isn't, as far as I know. Although the context could make it so.
