Got one of these cards for £44.99 with Zalman cooler and ramsinks brand new :)

Standard clocks are 550/1550 and its properly rapid for a lil 7600!, 6100 in 3dm '05 on stock cpu and gfx speeds, blowing my old 6800LE's score of 4242 clean out of the water!

Havent had a go with any games yet, as only built the system last night but gonna get COH installed later....canne wait :D

System is now:

GALAXY 7600GS 1.2ns 256mb
Athlon 64 3200+
DFi Lanparty RDX200 mobo
1Gb GEIL DDR400 value

Havent seen a lot of info about these cards on UK forums so thought id post up, will get some piccies later :)

That is quite an impressive score considering the cost, from memory that beats my 6800GT (unclocked although at 370/1000 at stock, that said I never did bother much with benchmarking and tweaking though) by a fair margin as well. :)

Have to agree with benchmarks not being all too important...its all just numbers really :)

But i am very impressed in the difference i got with this card over my old 6800 (the 4242 score was at 12 pipes, 6 shaders and 395/895mhz), very glad i made the jump to PCI-e

Cant wait to play games with everything cranked up :D

Will let you know how it goes

cool thanks for the replies guys.

Its good to know that other peeps think its a good buy, as i have been undecided for ages on what card to get on my budget and just decided to bite the bullet and get this one.

Zalman cooler works an abso treat too, 39 degrees on load :)

i've got the GT version of this card from Galaxy and it along with my [email protected] can handle COH at 1280x1024 with all the quality settings at highest they will go. Can't be bad for a sub £100 card. I think i'm running mine at 700/1600 if i remember correctly.

would 1440x900 put too much more stress on the card in relation to 1280x1024? as thats the res im running as im on a Hanns G 19in widescreen.

1440x900=1296000 pixels
1280x1024=1310720 pixels

so 1440x900 is a lower resolution

Does vertical v horizontal resolution play a role in performance, rather than actual amount of pixels? I wonder because users of the triphead2go claim that they don't see a great fps hit with triple the horizontal resolution.

I have no idea about this btw, I'm just speculating as to whether gfx performance deals with the resolution as a whole, or whether one is more important than the other (horizontal v vertical).

I can't see why it would make much difference, I would have thought rendering in a larger vertical plane would be harder (as most of the game world is in the vertical) rather than more floor/sky in non-widescreen ratios.

tried COH last night, mixture of med/high with detail slider up full and AA on, averaged a fps of around 60ish and max of 120 saying that my performance was "good". looks fantastic!

my 6800GT runs CSS in 1920x1200 on my Dell 2407 at a steady 55-60 fps till some clown spams smoke grenade at which point it drops to around 25-30 fps, so it should handle 1680x1050 easily
