When i buy a game i always go through the single player first and then have a go on the mutiplayer to see if its any good. But i know a lot of people will buy a game and go straight online with it and never touch the single player side.

So what do you prefer?
Are you shy or scared of getting your ass whooped?

Im kinda like you soon as i buy a game ill play the single player side first, Just to get the feel for the game i guess before i play online.

For me it is.....

PC - Multiplayer straight away
Console - Single Player straight away

I don't get a lot of enjoyment from multiplayer unless I am playing with someone whom I know personally, and that doesn't happen more than say once a week.

Definitely a single player gamer here.

Why wouldn't someone WANT to play online though?

Trash Talk
Annoying people
Lag

I also find that you don't have time to figure out what's happening and a lot passes you by. For example, I played GOW for the first time online during the week, and had absolutely no idea what the aim of the game was, and was just trudging around aimlessly.

IMO its just not as enjoyable in most cases.

Single player for me.

Multiplayer adds a nie wee addition, but when i get a game, i like to play the single player and finish it right through before playing the multiplayer. a lot of times i can find multiplayer too boring. I know it is a game and all, but some folk just take the whole thing too seriously.

Edit and i assume we are talking online multiplayer? though my answer wouldn't change, some others might

Start on single player to build up my skills/complete the game/till I get bored then switch to multiplayer.

It depends on the game though. BF2 I went straight to multiplayer because single player is rubbish.

I mainly do play single player and same as a lot of people will only play online with friends or forum members... Always play single player first, but no matter how much I play on my own I always get beaten in MP. Which is a reason im not a big fan of MP achievments.

I buy games mostly for the story. So it's generally always single-player first. I think MotorStorm is the only one I went online with right away but that doesn't have a story in single-player so not much choice.
