As people have read in the other thread I recent bought a new Nikon D40, sold the 18-55 which came with and replaced it with the 18-70.

Below are a sample of some of the images I've taken with it - 3 of the images are bigger versions than those posted in my other thread.

First set are from a climbing holiday in France - second from a walk around a local park in Nottingham.

C&C welcomed

Their some really nice shots, I'm quite impressed. I really like #3 although it feels a little unbalanced, my eye keeps being drawn up away from the flower although I think that might be why it works for me.

The D40 is a great little camera, you're going to have lots of fun with it.
Personally 6 and 7 are my favourites, but I think thats because they're very similar to many of my own pictures.

nice - really good photos - It's good to see that the D40 produces nice images as I have been hesitant to suggest it to anyone over the 400D. Nice job.

Cheers guys :)

I was in a bit of a rush with #3, the others I got adhere to the rule of 1/3s a bit more stringently but the flower stalk wasn't as nice and the horizon was very sloping (the field was sloping... not my camera skills :p )

Been very impressed with the D40, exposure and colours seems to be very good. Ken Rockwell had a pretty good guide on how to setup a D40 which I'm having a look through.

All in all very impressed :)
