GA-G33M-DS2R MATX overcloking board

This is one of the first 1333 strap boards for MATX so far looking good :)

Right, all up and running.
Now, this is supposed to be the next big thing in matx overclocking, here are some of my thoughts.

1. I was extremely impressed with the overall quality of the board, well it did cost 65+ vat for an matx its expensive.

2. when first booted I was supprised that it did not support memory speeds of 533mhz. This is then I started to worry. knowing that I had DDR2800 ram, I knew this board would only let me go so far setting the ram multiplyer to 667. - I have generic DDR2800 memory.

Note to everyone, you really need DDR900 or extremely good quality DDR2800 to overclock this board. On the good side of things, ive overtaken the speed at which i managed with the asrock 945DVI of 310Mhz (FSB)

As you can see in the pic, i have only got it to 320Mhz, i havn't tried any further. The reason for this I wanted to demonstrate that you cant really garantee anymore due to the memory speed. im sure i will try but not tonight. Got to load windows and all other apps etc.

Conclusion:

Good board, no good for overlcocking if you have only 800Mhz ram, a C2D 6600 will only go 2.88Ghz which is 1.1 with 800Mhz memory. However get this board IF you know that you ram overclocks extremly well. Id say that the board can do a very good job paired with the correct memory (900+).

7/10 for me

For some interest in the small form factor forum -

I just know the memory will crap out soon so dont expect too much from this one! :(
I should have atleast got it to 333Mhz but will do later, heh then atleast i can say its getting to 3Ghz. on Air by the way in a Sugo.. SMALL & CRAMPT - and very warm.

its about time they brought out a half way decent matx C2D mobo, tho i didn't realise it had been released yet.

1:1 with a C2D 6600 would be setting the ram 533Mhz, But i dont have that option :( Please tell me im doing something wrong! the lowest setting i can choose is 667Mhz put the divider at 4:5.

still atleast i have got to 3Ghz, But i know this board can soo much more with the correct ram.

Very interesting that lowest supported speed at the stock 266FSB is DDR2-667 on this board and there's no divider to do otherwise. If that's the case there isn't much more I can say. But whats for sure is, that's a stonking board if it managed ~333FSB with little effort. Like you said, with the right memory it could certainly go further.

Mul

No effort at all, I booted the computer and loaded windows straight at 310Mhz all voltages at stock. Then bumped it to 330 (still got to bump it up again but downloading something etc)

All voltages are at stock atm, very impressed.

its mentions the lack of a 1:1 ratio but hopfully a bios revision will fix this.

So the F-I90HD is the better board for overclocking?

Got mine at 333FSB (3GHz) and there's still a bit more room to overclock.

Plus it's not too fussy about RAM at all really.

I'm going to try pushing it hard IF my "project" gets off the ground. :D

(Jokester will know what I mean) ;)

Still not breaking a sweat. Although im amazed my budget memory hasn't conked out yet

All in all a very good clocking board. Even though all in a Sugo and air cooled. Im happy!! :)

Just to bring this one back up. There is now new BIOS out to sort out the ram divider issue GOOD NEWS!!

Anyway, hope this isnt old news as ive been off the internet for over a month.
