Which mobo and RAM for my E6600

I have an E6600 and an X1900 Gfx card that i need to find a new home for.

Please could you recommend me the best combination of motherboard and ram?

I already have 2Gb of DDR2 5300 RAM but would consider upgrading it with the new motherboard if i'd notice a performance improvement.

it might also be worth mentioning that i'm unlikely to be doing any overclocking of any sorts.

am i really going to notice a difference with the faster memory?

i do a mixture of video editing/gaming and general tasks. though now i have a daughter to be honest it's not really used for more than a couple of hours a week or when i have a day off.

What is the ram you already have? i.e. 5300 . . what make/type

Brand new games (FEAR etc) then I'd go for the Crucial. TBH tho you might as well just stick with your current memory.

Speed > timings, so the brand/model of RAM you have isn't really a big issue and it will not give you much of a difference from buying, say, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL as a compromise.

i realised we had an unused media centre pc in our office so i made an offer for it. i actually specced it up in december for a project which was not successful. We ended up going the Dell route.

it has the following

Intel E6400
1Gb Kingston RAM
Asus P5B motherboard
Asus EAX 13300PRO 256Mb Gfx Card
Zalman HD160 Home Theatre PC Enclosure - Silver
Zalman ZM600-HP Heatpipe Cooled 600W Modular PSU

I made an offer of £200 and it was accepted. What would you keep and what would you sell?

Bare in mind i will use my E6600 CPU and 2Gb of RAM.

Asus P5B motherboard considering i now own it.

I don't mind selling it and trading it for the one you recommend.

Keep the P5B if you already have it. The other has the better chipset for if you are overclocking, but they're both great boards.

Looks very good for the price.
1900 series cards are OK, but will be royally pooped on by an 8800GTS.
