Hello,

Ive had my 8800GTX since november06 and has been great, yesterday i had my duel screens setup like usual (19inch and 32inch hdtv) set in duelview then out of the blue red lines appeared across my screen and the pc rebooted. When trying to boot up to windows if gave me a bluescreen error and would only let me load in safe mode. I had to uninstall nvidia drivers to be able to run windows normally without a blue screen. This happens with ANY nvidia drivers but at the moment im using the 158.18 for Vista64.

I looked at my problem reports and it did say "Video Hardware Error" so im thinking maybe something has went boom :/.Ive tried re-seating the card, cleaning out dust and all the usual but to no good. I can still play movies etc in windows just no games as i have no gfx drivers installed.

I have no open ticket at BFG support and waiting for them to reply but thought id post here to see if anyone has any advise/info.

Pc Setup:

MSI Powerup Edition
Duo E6700
2GB G.Skill PC2-5400
Vista Home Premium 32/64(running 64 atm)
FSP Epsilon 700W PSU
BFG 8800GTX 768MB
X-FI F4tality

PS: the lines disappear when i change desktop colors to 16bit but come back when on 32bit. (well you can see them in 16bit if you look really close as they blend in with background, but on 32bit they are red and cant miss them), also, if using res of 800x600 the lines go from left to right, but with my native res of 1280x1024 they go up and down.

Thanks for any help

hmm.. there isnt any artifacting in actual windows is there? tbh i think the drivers you have are just corrupt and the installation is screwed... how easy would it be for you to format? would you be able to back up?

if its in the bios then your card is faulty. do the obvious lik echeck the fan is working, remove any dust ect. but other than that, its rma time

Yeh i even tried another monitor and tried using the other dvi slot incase one had gone boom but no good. I thought it might of been rma time just wanted to get some advise first :D

Tell a lie, the red lines dont show on black background, so dont see them in bootup, but on bootup there pink/green and in a different pattern. If i go into bios theres no colored lines but you can see the text it all messed up looking.

Got one email back from BFG last night asking me to give them PSU details, voltages etc. So i can imagine it will be one of these customer supports where they have you running back and forward doing allsorts of test :p
