In the latest EGM LIVE, Shane Bettenhausen one of the EGM editors who last week was on the Kojima podcast talks more in-depth on MGS4. How it will probably be coming in (or slightly before) March to the PS3, and more or less confirms there is a deal in place that MGS4 will come to the 360. It will be announced after the PS3 version is out and odds are it may come out 6-months to a year after the PS3 version. So just maybe Xbox 360 owners may get a chance at Snake come next Christmas. If so from what is gathered from the podcast it may be slightly changed to get the best of the 360 hardware, after all this game is being built on the PS3 first and foremost. As it was mentioned in the Kojima podcast last week, If MGS4 comes to Xbox 360, it has not affected the game’s development as a whole. Still a 360 port would be nice as all gamers would then be able to enjoy the game.

There may be hope yet for you 360 people.

That report is manufactured from the original comments made.

I listened to both the EGM podcast and the Kojima Productions Podcast this morning, and it was made clear in the EGM podcast that the comments should in no way be taken as an announcement, it was merely opinion/speculation.

If so, i'd be happy to wait and it'd completely kill off any plans I had to get a PS3. Thats the only game PS3 has that interests me really.

The thing is, it would hardly be a massive surprise if it was on the 360. I mean, the series has appeared on many different consoles including Xbox 1 so it isn't too much of a stretch. Besides, if the PS3 still hasn't sold well by the time it comes out, they will have to port to the 360.

Agreed

Think there maybe a MGS 4 game for the 360, but it wont be like the PS3 version. The game has been designed with BR and sixaxis in mind, the full quote seems to me to say we have not cut anything out changed anything in anticipation of there possibly being a 360 version at some point.

That was mentioned in the podcast, as there were some worried that the PS3 may be scaled back so that the conversion to 360 would be easier. This was confirmed not to be the case.

As for the rest of the article, it's not a quote, it's spin, must have been a slow news day.

Sometimes i wonder where these "news" stories come from! Well at least we know the PS3 version will be out before march 08 now (not sure if thats PAL version though)

No release date was confirmed either, the only comment made was from Shane saying he expected it to be out by the end of the fiscal year, which is where the March date comes from.

Kojima has said that the sixaxis functionality is only there to replace whatever Rumble would have been used for, and that if Sony ever took back the functionality, he would drop the sixaxis and return to that. Using sixaxis as an excuse for why a 360 version would be unlikely or 'worse' is not a very convincing point to make. Also, the PS3 isn't exactly a big seller right now, and Konami needs money.

Who said it was unlikey or 'worse' because of the Sixaxis?

I see your point, but he doesn't say it's unlikely or use the word worse.

Also, I don't see how Sixaxis can be a like for like replacement for rumble. I'm sure Sony will be pushing for a title as high profile as MGS to set an example for Sixaxis use, so we'll have to wait and see how it is used in the game.

Kojima also said MGS4 would be out this year. ;)

I ment the sixaxis motion sensing is going to be used in someway in MGS4, something that cant be done with the 360 controller, does not mean it cant go to 360 because of it. Having it vibrate when you get shot is hardly the same as piloting a remote using the sixaxis is it (just an example) ? Think the biggest stumbling block will be the fact that its going to be a squeeze on a 50Gb Blue ray, according to Kojima, let alone DVD9. Cant think they will cut out some of the cut scenes just to fit it on a couple of DVD9s or release it as a 5 disc game as that would be plane silly. As i said i think MGS will come out for the 360 but probably not same as the PS3 version. If it was down to just the money side of things, it would come out for the Wii or the PS2 i would have thought. Dont forget that Sony are bankrolling/ working on the MGS film due out next year, thats gonna help both companies make more money of the back of it either in film or console/ games sales.

I was suspecting they port MGS2 to xbox because MGS2 doesn't live up to expectation. MG3 did extremely well and they made good money but decided not to port it to xbox. I have to buy a PS2 just to play MGS3.

Now I'm thinking, if MGS4 is good, there's not a chance you'll it in the x360.

Sound reasoning. 10/10 :p
