First one is 2x2GB so will only take up two slots, second one uses 1GB modules so will need all 4 slots for 4GB.

Not all motherboards will handle 4 slots fully populated all that well.

It is a bit of a problem though if you want 4GB as not many of the current 2GB modules will overclock well and few boards will drive 4x1GB to high clock rates either.

... oh... remove the competitor link before the mods get to you...

How do you not know what your using your PC for?

You have you linked to a competitor, which breaks the rules remove the link or the mods with get to it first.

The 4x1gb sticks is the better choice as this stuff is unbeatable for speed and value when overclocked (not hard to either)

I've just received 4Gb of Patriot 1066MHz DDR2 - timings are 5-5-5-9 out the box and can be tightened even further...Unfortunately OcUK don't stock it :/

..Hmm - Gibbo, look at Patriot for RAM mate :) Good stuff - think they are the principle suppliers for system builders like Alienware for their extreme gaming rigs.

They used to stock it, dunno what happened, supply and demand i guess.

I bought a few kits, one thing i did notice, 3 out of the 8 i bought were faulty.

Found a UK supplier for the Mushkin 4Gb kit (same place I got my Patriot from) but it's 420 quid mate - it's very good memory to be sure, but I decided in the end for the 2 2Gb Patriot kits as they are fast but quite a lot cheaper, plus the P35 boards can apparently run 4x1Gb sticks fine (at least the Asus P5Ks can).
