Ive just bought Vista Ultimate 32 bit, because i was informed that the 64bit version has a lot of driver issues..... Is this information correct? If it isnt, is it worth getting the 64 bit version, and if so what are the cons of doing so?

I just bought the 64 version, i had a look around for drivers and to be honest anything i found x86 drivers for there were also x64 drivers there, now people will go into great detail about x86 and x64 now but all i will say is that x64 can be faster :D

would you recommend the 64bit version over the 32bit version? Also does the diffrent versions effect things you run on it, like games and other apps?

64 bit doesn't have any more driver issues than the 32 bit one. Everything I have drivers/programs/games works just fine. Also ms has made it so that hardware manufactures need to make both 32 and 64 bit versions of drivers to get a cert for them.

In general the nvidia and creative drivers started out bad. Nvidia has gone along way to address this, and I'm back to the same speeds as XP in most games. Creative (for my card anyway) have a lot of work to do. No EAX for a start. However these issues are on both versions of Vista.

personally i would go for it, but i think there is only 1 game optimised for 64bit at the moment, and on 32bit stuff it doesnt make a difference anyway, i know on xp64 i had some problems with compatibility but not found anything like that with vista yet

I would take stock of all the hardware you have. Go to the manufactuers websites and see if they have the drivers available.

I was very lucky, I use Vista Ultimate 64-bit and have had no problems with drivers.

I did, however have problems with software, like webroot spysweeper not running on vista 64 bit and having to buy a different version of symantec antivirus.

there are a few niggles with vista, but a quick google soon sorts it out. I have it working for me now just like a normal XP system.

Out of curiosity, is there currently any actual benefit from having the 64-bit version? That is, is Windows any quicker?

Not really, but it's no slower, and is better future-proofed.
