just been having a look around on sites and there saying cross platform multiplayer games such as shadowrun + halo 2 will have a 'aim assist' for xbox 360 users and people who use an xbox 360 control pad on there pc

but if you use a normal mouse + keyboard combo you dont get this assist

i guess they sorted the whole mouse v keyboard thing out then :S

Cant be true, because if they have Aim assist which is Auto Aim right? then its there gonna slaughter us PC gamers :\

I remember reading this about shadowrun. Apparently as well as the aim assist for XBox users, they also nerf the PC User interface a bit. Stuff like blurring your crosshairs, hud if you move too fast. All to make it "fairer" for the xbox users. Put me right off.

until they can 'cross platform' the likes of css or battlefield2 or 2142 with 64 player support then its a non-starter, Halo/2 is a truly awful fps very basic very boring and should remain on the consoles

My thoughts exactly. I never liked the cross platform pc/console games to start with. But as we move to multiplayer between pc and console I think it's going to get worse. :-/

Halo always did have a certain amount of auto-aiming even on single player. Or atleast it seemed to while I played it.

I remember at first when I played the first ever FPS properly on the PC (UT99/2003) I was like this is crap I want Auto Aim as I was used to consoles, but now I realize how crap Autoaim is, why are controllers even sued for FPS's on the consoles???? They should have keyboard and mouse like PC gamers since its more enjoyable and fun than using a controller.

Like the console version, the PC game employs a certain amount of auto-aim when you're using a gamepad. This makes sticking to other players for up-close shotgun blasts or melee attacks significantly easier with the gamepad, and there doesn't appear to be any way to disable it or even detect that another player is using a pad. After pumping up the gamepad's sensitivity, we found ourselves doing more damage when armed with a gamepad, which makes the two control schemes feel unbalanced, is sort of crazy when you consider how tournament-focused the current Halo 2 Xbox scene is these days.

for close combat it seems more easy
