recycle bin has gone and i want it back!

some reason the other day my recycle bin decided to randomly disappear and i can't seem to find it, though probably because i don't know where to look but the search couldn't find it, just the images for it.

Ages from you guys i got some code that i think i typed into run which deleted the recycle bin from desktop leaving me with it just in the quick launch menu. this is where it has now also gone from. So anyways for me to get it bacjk?

right click desktop > properties > desktop > customise desktop > tick recycle bin

im there but there is no recycle bin to click, just, my docu, computer, network, and internet

Just press run and then F5 on the desktop, if it doesnt appear try the above method again. Right click desktop > properties > desktop > customise desktop > tick recycle bin.

This is the best method:

If using XP Pro

Go to START > RUN

Type GPEDIT.MSC

Navagate to USER CONFIGURATION >ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES >Click on DESKTOP,

On the right hand pane find " Remove Recycle Bin icon on the desktop " , double left click on it to ENABLE it.

Sorted!

If using XP Home

Either use TweakUI or make the change manually in the registry.

Create or modify the following registry entry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel

{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

REG_DWORD

0x00000001

neither did stuff but neither have worked.

I tried enabling it but now have disabled it as i thought i'd want to disable "remove recycle bin"? but anyway that didn't work either.

So any more ideas? i only need to access the content so maybe is there another way to get to it?

just checked i have pc set to show desktop icons so it deifently not that.

why do people store things in the recycle bin

use a program called 'recuva', should be able to help you

If none of the other fixes work you could try installing ObjectDock.

By default this puts a recycle bin icon on the dock. You could access it that way.

that goes somewhere but with nothing in it, also if it try to go to that folder manually its not there.

i've downloadedthis and had a look, can't seem to find recycle bin anywhere. Yeah desktop icons are showing as i got another that atm

Good idea. Might need to show hidden files for it to work.

Right click on the dock. Add>New Recycle Bin Entry

that doesn't make a difference as i already got all my files to be shown even if hiddne

genius, it worked. It created a link on object dock, then i created shortcut on desktop and then copied it to quicklaunch, although quicklaunch first time gave me an error for some numbers which looked like a memory reference but then second time worked like a charm.
