I work as an IT Technician and ive put together a PC many a time as has my boss. A friend of mine in the workplace wanted a new PC for his son, so we ordered all the parts from overclockers.

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

OcUK 1GB (2x512MB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 NCQ 320GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM

Intel Core 2 DUO E4400 "LGA775 Allendale" 2.00GHz (800FSB) - Retail

Pioneer DVR-112DBK 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter - (Black) OEM

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Akasa Ultra Quiet 400W Paxpower Active PFC ATX2.2 PSU - Black Nickel

Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black.

We have had nothing but problems with this build. Put it all together, switched it on and the power LED lights up. The fans all kick in but we recieve no signal on the monitor at all.

The motherboard was completely silent though, which worried me. Not a single error beep weather or not a keyboard/mouse were plugged in or even if the graphics card wasnt in. JUST NOTHING. I tried replacing the order of the RAM and only using one stick of RAM but again no change. I also reset the cmos but nope, nothing.

Assuming the motherboard was faulty I sent of the RMA and recieved a new motherboard. Exact same problem with the new motherboard! Spoke to overclockers IT and was told the PSU isnt powerful enough for the graphics card. Fair enough, school boi error on that one as I was trying to get the build within the guys budget. Still not convinced though that the PSU I ordered wouldnt atleast power up the machine properly into the bios.

Anyway overclockers agreed to take the PSU back and I ordered this as recommended by their IT guy, OCZ StealthXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply. Recieved the new power supply and get the exact same problem. can not recieve a display on the monitor at all. It just wont recieve a signal from the graphics card. So I sent an RMA off for the graphics card. M y friend recieved an email yesterday saying "The product CA-022-AK on RMA RMA113772 has been returned to you, this will
> be sent on a new order with order number 1795151"
Now im assuming this means the graphics card has been tested with no fault found and is being sent back?

If so I am at a complete lost at what the hell we are going to do to get this build up and running? Where the hell do we go from here?

Any advice guys would be greatly appreicated.

What about the CPU, tried reseating it? Tried a different one?

Have you tried building it outside the case?

Sounds like a bad psu.

Not that it is underpowered, it just doesnt seem to work with that machine.

A 330w tagan can power up my dfi expert with no problems however trying to power on the machine with a tagan 480w is just a dead end and does exactly the same thing as that machine you describe.

What difference does that make?

I could buy and test 100 tagan 480w psu's they still are never going to power on my x2 setup.

Did you read the whole post? He went from a 400W Akasa psu to an OCZ 600W Psu and still had the same problem. Anyway have you tried another monitor?

i know this sounds kinda simple and probably not the answer but have you tried using the other dvi port on the graphics card, when i did my build i accidentally plugged the monitor into the wrong port and it received no signal

I refer you to my original post.

I imagine you've already tried reseating the CPU, but to be honest I don't think its the CPU as the MB would at least have given you some sort of signal, same with the RAM. Honestly, building outside of the case is always a good step... I had a similar problem before and found that everything worked fine outside of the case, so after double checking I found a rouge bolt under the board that was shorting it. Its easy to miss little things like that !!
