Acoustic Energy Aego M's : Faint Hum From Sub ?

I have recently purchased a set of these:

Acoustic Energy Aego M's

There is a very faint hum coming from the Sub. Sounds as though it is emitting from the back. With the computer off, turning on the speaker system, and increasing the volume, about midway you hear the hum amplify but from the satellites (till the hum at the back of the sub, but not from the speaker).

However if the PC is on, and booted into windows xp home, the hum not further emits from the satellites but stil the very quiet hum from the rear of the sub.

Is the above normal?
Does it consume much electricity by doing this ?
If it is normal, is there a way to dampen it?

Thank you for reading. Please reply if you have any comments / suggestions.

hmm im sure that aint normal well mine dont make that sound i call turn them up full and no strange sounds at all  what sc are you using ?

The hum on the speakers dosent hapen when the PC is turned on, only when the PC is off does it hum through the speakers when turned up. The only annoying bit is the buzz from the rear for the sub. If you listen very carfully at the back of your sub with power being supplied obviously (dosent matter what volume) and no sound going through. Is there a very quiet hum?

Thanks for your reply.

Ah, thank you. Reviewing this backs up there is indeed a fault as Acoustic Energy confirmed it as a fault and replaced the guys speakers. Other people also confirm that they have no buzzing and is a known issue tin the Aego range.

Thanks for that reply. Most helpful.

Man, forgot about this thread... lol. OcUK replaced mine without a fuss after I spoke with them on what I had tried to eliminate the noise. They sent a courier out to pick them up and I had a new set within a week, and the new set work just fine.

I know where I am going to be spending my money with in future!

Thanks OcUK!
