mac graphics cards

Bios on the card is Mac specific. Then there's the drivers..

In short there's been no end of people buying 8800s thinking they'll work on their Mac Pro but finding out it's a no go.

yea but what'll he use in OS X

He could.....swap them when he wanted to change. :D

Think it's really crappy the way Apple don't support the top end cards - whether they are 'having control' there or more complicated issues with hardware, I don't know.

One things for sure though, if they're getting as serious about games as they're cracking on about - they need to match those software aspirations with hardware ones.

It's all about control. Steve Jobs is the biggest control freak on the planet. You are expected to be honoured that he's willing to "share" his computers with you, you know.

Gah. It's so refreshing when you're free from the reality distortion field. ;)

The card is identical to a Windows card, it's just you need to have one that's flashed with a Mac OS BIOS before it will work in OS X.

If you shoved a 8800GTX in a MacPro it would only work in Windows, and show up as a blank screen in OS X :)

needs to be mac os flashed or the only time you can use it is in windows, while getting a black screen up till when windows starts...and im assuming if there is mac os usable versions of high end cards out then theyll cost atleast 33% more than "normal" ones

Read my post above ;)

You could buy a card and flash it yourself, but as they're not officially released (8800GTX etc) then the BIOS is going to be hard to track down.

I'd take the RDF and Mac OS over Vista any day though :)

I agree but it just bugs me that the Apple consumer is not offered the wide range of products that other computer manufacturers have. I thought this transition to Intel would mean speedier product updates - not having to wait almost a year for a new iMac, for example.

Looks like Apple is spreading itself too thin with this wretched iPhone.

oh sorry I didnt know that apple dont support DX .. not an apple man myself he just wants a card that will do good. he also wants to know if medal of honor airborne will work on his mac or if there is a special version etc
