Competitor offering MGS 4 pre-orders for the 360 version

The latest round of "Metal Gear Solid 4 is totally headed to the 360" rumors have begun, with UK retailer *** taking online pre-orders for MGS 4 on the Xbox 360. That's right, *** is offering a preorder on the Xbox 360 version of MGS 4 without any official confirmation or announcement from Konami about the franchise heading to Xbox-land. So, they either know something we don't or they're just a tad confused. Though, it's interesting to note that they have the release date set at September 26th for the 360 version, which is five months after the PS3 version drops (according to their release dates). So, in theory, that would make sense according to the OXM confirmation rumor we heard a few weeks back.

More rumors, more information, more confusion and no concrete answers. This MGS 4 coming to the 360 rumor mill is quite the soap opera, but a good soap opera at that.

Haha! Whats everyones take on this, its gotta me wrong surely!

I think it's wishful thinking drumming up traffic for the online store, loads of them do this sort of thing.

IF MGS4 comes out for the 360 then it really does show that they know their stuff.

And if it was ment to be taken another way, what makes you think you know more than them?

They'll have so much egg on their faces of it doesn't appear, would they risk it? i can't answer that question as the pre-orders could have non-refundable charges, so they'd make a bit but if whatever sources they have are wrong they they'd be in very deep water.

This is a weird one. My gut feeling tells me that *** have it wrong, somehow.

How can that happen? Well, if Sony can use PGR3 to advertise the PS3 then anything can happen...

Is this the same way a certain store i cant mention had Bioshock for the PS3, and another has alan wake also for the PS3?

No because they haven't had tons of rumours about them being on PS3 before.

Well, BioShock has but they were shotdown by 2K.

he knows, but you can't edit a thread title once its been posted.

Im not really bothered about MGS 4 tbh, if it comes out on the 360 i might pick it up to see if its as stupid as that gameplay video suggested, if not i definitely won't miss it.

I think Konami are just keeping their options open for the moment. Clearly they are not going to say that it will definitely not appear on the 360. It all comes down to whether they can recoup the production costs by releasing it on the PS3 only.
Many developers have expressed concern over the 'small' PS3 user base at the moment.

Yea but a small user base is common in terms of a newly relased console! Short selling time + expensive release price + small games catalogue = low customer base. Eg. the N64 (£50 games!!) I dont think its really a problem right now!

[UPDATE][UPDATE] An HMV representative told GameSpot that, "In his enthusiasm, one of our online games team indicated that hmv.co.uk would start taking preorders for MGS4 on Xbox 360, when, in fact, he simply meant to ask customers if they wished to receive an alert in the event of this title one day coming out on this platform."

He continued, "We're sorry to have caused such a stir--the oversight has now been corrected. He is now sitting on the naughty step."

Please note, while retailer listings frequently jump the gun on publishers' product announcements, they should not be taken as final confirmation of a game's existence; nor should the absence of a listing be considered as proof that a game isn't coming to a given platform.
