If you ant something aside from an F1 game as well then try Trackmania United. Pure awesome to be honest. Such a good game with so much variety and so much to do. Quite arcadey but still.

live for speed. i got it a few weeks ago, just beginning to get the hang of it now. But im loving it, working my way up the cars. Cant wait to be able to get the F1 Sauber round the track without spinning off a few times
GT Legends and GTR2 have nice graphics, as does rFactor. If you want something with F1-type cars, LFS is well worth getting.
I should point out none of these are racing games in the TDU sense, they're racing sims although that shouldn't put you off.

I know you said you didnt like TDU, but personally im very fond of it, one of my favorite driving games to date, Although i suppose its not really a "racing" game as such compared to the others.
Ive heard very good things about GTR2 and Grand Prix 4, DiRT is pretty fun but i think its rather a let down compared to the rest of the colin mcrae series to be honest, just looks pretty.

Best looking imo is CTDP 2005, 2006 should be released soon hopefully
Latest is the Fsone mod with the 2007 skin pack.. But it dosnt look that good tbh.
Rfactor has great netcode too, i can host 10 people with my 2mb connection without major lag.

God knows mate i am not a fan of the F1 mods so cannot really comment. They are free though so they are easily self tested & kept or deleted accordingly.
The ultimate mod for me is the Caterham mod as for me it truly feels like booting a RWD car about a track. There are loads of good mods though so the thing to do is look online & see what is popular & has many servers running. Then a quick download & instal & go test/race. What makes RFactor special is the mods & the fact that you have a Complete new set of cars to get used to & race on a regular basis.
Not forgetting the Tracks available as well, around 200 to 250 tracks are available for RF even Dirt tracks & Kart tracks to go with the Dirt Trucks & Kart mods available.
RFactor has Everything an online racer wants.
