Hi, ok so my graphics is obsolete i know, it has served me well playing warcraft on 1680x1050 but i want to play games, Crysis, Bioshock, Test Drive. Those are the 3 main games im wanting to play, also lost Planet.

Requirements is i want to play the game on 1680x1050, with game enchancements up like motion blur, usual next gen features, im not particaulary bothered about having super high aa/af, unless the game runs fine with them on full then ofc i will crank it up.

i was looking at the x1950 but noticed that it hasnt got enough memory for running such a high resolution so now im debating between a 8800gtx 640mb and a 2900xt 512mb.

i will be playing on DX9 untill Crysis or some game comes out i really fancy getting and playing in DX10 (also cant be bothered to buy Vista).

I Probably have around a Limit of £250 so GTX is out of the Question.

Should i Open my wallet and let a few bob loose on getting a nice graphics card now, or sit and play warcraft untill the new NV/ATI cards are out this Fall?

Im quite happy playing Warcraft which i will still continue to play but as i only have a wii, i want to play some fps/racing games with some nice graphical detail.

No one really knows when Nvidias new range is out period, it could be out this year or it could be out next year.

I would personally go for the 8800GTS 640 or the HD2900XT, both are fine cards and will play Crysis fine. (I say fine becuase i dont think the people that made Crysis will expect every single user to have a uber machine (graphics card). Maybe im wrong?

So you could keep your current GPU now and begging that Nvidias new range comes out soon after Crysis.

Or buy a nice graphics card now which will be able to play Crysis fine. :)

aye hence me playing in xp, Vista isnt feasable yet imo i would only get ultimate for the 32/64 bit parts and costs far too much considering XP is doing what i want it to atm.

DX10 already gives a 5 - 15% boost in FPS with the DX9 Cards in Vista so god only knows what DX10 Cards are going to do when the Game Developers finally get their fingers out of their butts, even with the low-mid range 8600's.
