Hey everyone....

i recently overclocked my pc to almost 3Ghz.. (2.9ghz) and it was going fine... and then i installed the driver for my digital camera had it for years now... and not long after i installed it i started getting lots of errors and blue screens saying bad pool caller, kernel data inpage error and IRQL not less or equal... i personally don't have a clue what these mean... so i performed a clean install (damn pc !) of xp and all was well... until just before when i got the blue screens again... i have not had one for a bit yet... but that is not saying i won't... can anyone help me or tell me what is happening... i spent a LOT of money on this pc... i hope it ain't broke !!!

Thanks everyone !!

yeah i did not re-install it and i have done nothing since... just re-installed xp and a few programs like firefox etc.... no drivers... nothing... but like i say it has not happened for a while... it seems quite random when it happens.... i have heard of other sites it could be something to do with RAM etc... i don't know

ok sure.... i remember someone telling me about overclocking on these forums before i got the pc and they said sometime about RAM... something about it's frequency... in CPU-Z now it says 400MHz.. i remember someone saying something about 400... what do i do now... as is going over 400 not considered overclocking the ram.. also i seem to get the errors when i go over 400....

any help would be very nice ;)

Running Windows, a game, etc fine doesn't mean its a stable OC. Like mentioned you need to stress test the system to guarantee stability! Increase speed accordingly until stable :)

Also, did you return the PC to stock after the BSOD*?

*Blue Screen of Death

i think it is ok now... i have lower the fsb to 400 (resulting in 2.8 Ghz for the CPU and 400MHz freq for the RAM) and everything seems to be fine... but i will run some tests to be sure ;)

edit - If that is the max i can get out of my CPU i will still be very happy... it started out as only 1.8Ghz... ;)
