CPU: e6750 @ 3328 stock volts
MB: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R @ 416 fsb +02v chipset
MEM: OCZ Reaper 8500 5-5-5-15 @ 1248 5-5-4-12 2.4v
PSU: ocz 600w gamestream.

Cooling isnt an issue, i have a antec 900 with loads of high speed fans.

Synth (cant spell it) infinity cooler, temps are cpu 47max(including 15+C temp reading issue) chipset goes upto 38 and south bridge upto 35 (if those temps are to be believed?? but they are only warm to the touch.

The above OCs are what i have got after a week of trying, and im not very impressed :-(
I cannot get past 416 stable, no matter how much i drop the memory speed or cpu multi, or increase the Nbridge volts and FSB volts.

It just wont do it, i have seen on the reviews this mboard hitting over 550!!! but i have tried 2 now and its exactly the same, it just wont post over 420 and isnt stable over 416.

This has annoyed me because i went ahead buying the e6750 knowing that it only had a 8x multi, but after reading the reviews of the mboard i presumed i could get at least 3.8g

Maybe im being thick, or maybe just the 1.1 revision of this board sucks for OCing?

Ideas, thoughts anyone?? Also i can run the mem at 1080 4-4-4-8 but im thinking this isnt as quick as 1248 5-5-4-12?? maybe wrong?

I don't have experience with this board but I was under the impression the NB cooler had to upgraded to get that kind of overclock.

It is also possible your chip doesn't go that fast... That said I don't have the board so take what I say with more than a pinch of salt.

/EDIT/ It's spelt Scythe - like the one death carries.

Are you sure that your E6750 doesn't have a 416mhz FSB wall?

The DS3R's should go past 500mhz. Are you running an upto-date BIOS?

what stepping is the 6750? The 'A' steppings don't clock as well I hear. Have you updated the Bios? What voltage have you tried on the CPU?

hmm, maybe but i have seen a few people get these to 3
.8 somewhere.

i have tried F2 and the latest F4G (beta) still the same. i do also have a 3gig pentium D maybe i could slap that in and see if the FSB can go higher, but then again it dosnt really help this current setup. i am waiting till the 45nm quads come out, so i guess ill only have this for another 4 months.

It's odd that both DS3R's would crap out at 416mhz.

Low CPU FSB walls aren't that common, but they certainly do exist.

i have tired voltage all the way up to 1.5v (bios setting) not sure what the actual is, but would have thought that was high enough, should i push more, 1.55, 1.6?? then again, i would probably need water for that to be stable?

Mine needed 1.5125v to do 3.6 Orthos stable (3.8 and 1.65v 3d mark 06 stable). I'm surprised the chip doesn't go beyond 420FSB. The PC won't crash until you hit 70c load. So don't worry too much. I don't and I'm on air too. :D

i have just tried it at 1.6v for 3.368 (fsb 421 - max it would post at) and it would then crash on windows boot. so im not sure volts are the issue :(

ive also just tried upping the chipset voltage to +0.3v which is more than enough, and it didnt help.

What mobo do you have?

Looks odd to me, my "B" does about the same as yours on stock volts ~3.3. But it is orthos stable @3.6 with 1.39v and runs super-PI @ 3.8. I also use the "cheap" P35-S3 mobo and "cheap" OCZ PC6400 RAM.

Perhaps the chip does have a fsb wall!
