My son bought TWO's 1950pro

He is a bit miffed the box was torn around the handles, but apart from that its seems to be working okay.

Although if he goes crossfire, what does he need?

If he goes crossfire he needs a crossfire board (aka AMD/ATI or Intel chipset) And the 2 crossfire bridges.

On the off chance that the motherboard is a DFI UT LanParty SLI-DR then crossfire isn't going to work

It's an ultra-d so sli wouldnt work either

(although it can be hard modded)

one slight "problem" though is i cant monitor temps/fan speed? Ive just seen him play the bioshock demo on full and it looks very. very pretty.

Seen them a few times before, always at the cheap end of the market. I'm sure some of ocuk's own brand graphics cards have been triplex before.

Nothing to worry about since 95% of all grpahics cards are just the generic manufacturer's card with their name on it (exceptions are BFG, EVGA etc to name a few). The only thing that seems to vary nowadays is the warranty and bundle.

Well get a SLI mobo, possibly one from the new chipset series coming out soon, to run crossfire ?

I wouldn't worry about temps or fan speed if you aren't overclocking

So if he's not going to use Crossfire for the forseeable future, then why buy two X1950 Pro's? He should have bought a 8800GTS 320Mb for £20 more than both of them and it would have been faster then the crossfire set up he doesn't have

Triplex used to make a silver PCB Geforce 4 that came in an aluminium briefcase with a glass window. ah those were the days.

Remember 3Dpower and their GF3

, It came in a hand carved wooden box.

He hasnt bought 2 1950 pro's. TWO = this week only hence the upper case 's. not my sons two 1950pros came today.

And his a only 12 so he cant afford a 8800gts at the moment

right okay we now pay over £500 for top end cards and they come in cardboard boxes, i think all gfx xards should come in briefcases from now on
