The stunning new Dodge Challenger will be produced as a limited production run available to the North American market only.

Despite rave reviews from European and Worldwide press, Chrysler's new owners, Cerberus Capital Management overturned plans made by the previous management team and severely cut production- limiting availability to the home market only.

The first opportunity to view the production ready car will be at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show with cars being ready for customers shortly after.

This car could have been a real turning point for Chrysler, but now UK drivers will have to wait for imports to come into the country. We wonder just how many cars constitutes limited production, too few could mean this car becomes a seriously expensive proposition.

Unlucky.

I say this is a good thing and a bad thing.

Good - Would be super rare to see one over here , thus making gibbo's car a stunner! (once again!)

Bad - The market potential here could have been a big turn around for them.. :(

Hi there

It was most likely I would have imported one anyway because UK Dealership prices would have been silly.

However if production is very limited then US dealers have a habit of putting massive markups on cars.

When the Shelby GT500 first came out in the US, they were selling for $20,000 more than actual sticker price due to greedy dealerships.

So if the Challenger is a similar situation due too limited production then we may indeed see similar happening again and in which case I shall not bother and will just buy a Z06 instead.

I found a Z06 recently, black, black wheels, tuned by 21st century muscle cars to 625RWHP, still N/A and perfectly reliable for just $65,000. Thats £32,500, plus 10% duty, 17.5% VAT and any shipping/SVA charges. That therefor makes the Vette far better value and a far more capable car. :)

It's a damned shame that they're committing to just the limited run of the car, as it virtually guarantees that the Mustang and new-for-'09 Camaro will enjoy an unchallenged market. The Challenger, if available in numbers and without a stupid pricetag, could simply obliterate the pair of them.

Meh. Just one more chapter in a loooooooong line of bad decisions by Chrysler!

Didn't realise that an EU release was even on the cards. This then comes as no surprise.

I have always planned to import - hopefully by the time I come to change the car (q4 2009), the 'limited' run will still be going :) and the dealer mark-ups will have gone.

Let's see.

If these cars were coming here in mass numbers I doubt they would have attracted Gibbo's custom anyway. He likes his exclusive rare cars.
