NO IT"S NOT FOR ME

Please don't insult me :p

My friend wants one for some stupid reason, why? because he think's they look good, when they clearly DON'T!

Anyway, he asked me to ask you guys for any useful info, like reliability, common faults, good/bad points etc.

Can anyone give me any info?

Chars!

I used to want one because of the looks, then I read on here that they were crap and now don't want one :p. I guess all the posts will be saying they are not worth it.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in North Wales the only people that seem to drive them are the maturish ladies who spend far too much money on their hair, designer fashions and the tanning salons in a vain attempt to make themselves look young again. Mutton dressed as Lamb cars. But don't let that put you off :D

I drove a '57 on Saturday (my Uncles dealership now sells Hyundai too) and it was fine. Build quality inside the cabin is good, but I only drove it to pick the GF up the other side of the village so didn't open it up or similar, but I will ask to drive another one soon. In my opinion though, decent enough car if you spec it up like this one.

AFAIK Hyundai are fairly reliable. They have a long warranty, too.

Personaly I think the '02 onwards model is a very nice looking car (in black), they are cheap to buy, and insurance isn't bad. Unfortunately that's pretty much where the good points stop. Interiors are mediocre, they have a poor range of engines, from an asthmatic 1.6 to a wheezing 2.7L V6 which has barely more grunt than the 2.0L (which is probably the best engine to go for).

A car for people more interested in looks than driving.

Evo mag had a long termer a while back and seemed to rate it pretty highly. Can't remember for the life of me which model it was though, and can't check as I'm currently at work :o

They don't actually look all that bad these days. It was the earlier releases that were minging.

I think they look ok inside and out if you get a high spec model. Agree that the 2.0 is the engine to go for, for the small performance increase I couldn't justify the V6.

I think the following picture sums up rear seat space though :p

EDIT- OOPS I assumed 02> model :o

The seats are uncomfortable and you feel every bump as if you had your arse sticking out a hole in the floor. Also i hate the way the indicator stalk is on the wrong side, i kept hitting the wipers instead of indicators

When I first got in I was confused but then realised and from then on it was fine. I don't know what seats were in the model you drove smelf, but the latest revision with the full leather were extremely comfortable, to me anyway. However, none of my points are relevant as I now see Phate is talking about earlier models.

Old ones suck thats all there is to say, new ones at least look nice (side profile is almost indistinguishable from a new Jag XK IMO).

As for the indicator thing, i'm used to having the stalk on the right, so I get forgetful in cars with it on the left and always end up hitting the wipers :/

edit - and yes afaik all jap cars have it on the right.

Thats just cos its a jap car.

its korean.

And yeah, it makes more sense to have the indicators on the right hand side, means you can keep one hand on the gearstick and flick the indicators with your right hand.

At least, thats what I do.
