I have installed the drivers off of the cd but the realtek driver crashes befor it finishes, im downloading a fresh copy now.

The latest Realtek drivers now include the UAA driver.

i had a problem with this when i got myne.
all i did was download the new version off their website.
Uninstalled old installed new.
Go to Device manager and uninstall the driver from there.
Oh and make sure you download the right revision's(1.0 or 2.0) driver.

I'm in exactly the same boat, tried the latest drivers from gigabyte and i get a failure message.

Windows wont let me do anything with it at all, cant update or remove.

Very annoying.

Was in nearly the same boat, i've just put a build together with that board, luckily i downloaded the drivers from the website first, and used them rather than the ones from the CD, so never got the couldn't uninstall problem but i had read about it on other forums.

Everything seemed ok when i installed a few games then when i tried to install Flatout 2 i didn't have any sound in that particular game but the others were working ok :(

Drivers had seemed to install ok but obviously somat was wrong, checked in the DXDIAG test (start-run-dxdiag) and no Direct sound :(

Important bit

what i had to do was uninstall the driver then go to the folder where i'd downloaded the sound package from Gigabyte inside that was the UAA driver folder but it was called "MSHDQFE" then inside that was 2 folders one for win2k one fro XP inside the XP folder eventualy u get to 3 files one is for xp with SP1 or Xp with SP2 the other was a cab file.

Run the XP SP2 if thats what your on and install that first then go and install your audio driver for you motherboard.

with a bit of messing about in the audio control settings i managed to get my 5.1 setup working perfectly, it did take a bit of messing about though tbh but once it was running it sounded very good for onboard sound.

Good luck.

I've just managed to fix it with a different method, I went into the device manager and under system devices theres the Microsoft UAA Bus driver, disabled it BEFORE selecting uninstall.

The realtek sound device vanished along with it so then i reinstalled the latest drivers, went straight in :)

I was a bit annoyed to find realtek onboard sound still isnt compatible with Oblivion though, some sounds are really muddy and dull unless you drop down the hardware acelleration and this makes the game really slow whenever theres more than one animal on screen.
