Sky TV issue..

Evening all, tonight my sky has for some reason decided it dosnt wana send a satalite signal, now ive gone into the system settings and it clearly says im recieving signal and quality.

But on any channel, including radio channels it says that "no satalite signal is being recieved" ive done the connection thing, ive done the LNB thing, and reset by the wall and its still not working, we rung sky, they took us through the same things and its still naff...

anyone know whats up or what i can do, they want to charge me £65 to come take a look they can **** off if they think thats happening, my mum pays it every single month for what? 2 years? and this is what they do??

anyone know how to sort it?

This normally doesn't work but its worth a try, put it on standby, unplug from the mains.

Hold in the backup button and plug the box back in, you should see 4 lights appear on the front of the box, if it doesn't work your doing it wrong.

Keep trying.

O and don't pay 65, ask to be put through to turnaround, tell them your goldfish died and you can't afford 65quid.
 
Or if you've been with them for a few years and got a decent package, phone up and threten to cancel your contract. Tell em that one of your mates had just had sky+ installed for £49. I did that and got sky plus fitted for the same price. Also done the same for the mother in law. :D

See thats all i needed, i have done that before, that just upgrades it, did it on my old box but fogot how to do it, cheers dude.

still a few channels mising but ill sort that, only wanted sky one at 9 :D

If your missing some channels and not others its possible could be a dish alignment problem or a fried LNB. Indepandant will do it for about 25bucks, but threaten to xc before doing that.

Yeah just re-installs the software.
 
if your not offered a free serv call tell turnaround to cancel the ac , worst case is that you'l have 30 days to call back and get the termination cancelled, say you dont want to leave but cant afford the serv call, unless you act like an a*se you'l get a free call out, wouldnt touch the indies, far to risky..
 
Done it, kicked its little ***...

only prob is ive less channels than usual...

so i think i have to move the dish? how far? how long?

pffft, ill work it out.

Doubt you have to move the dish at all. I imagine the LNB is faulty.

List a few of the missing channels please.
 
itv c4 c5 bbc 1, some others, c4 c5 were all on yesterday but the others wernt, theres a few more which aint working, i dont know what to do, what is the LNB? whats its duty??

The box is under a secondary guarantee so atleast its replaceable, and i think the service fee is also free of charge, anyway, im thinking i need to move the dish as some channels work and some dont...
 
The issue is back, lost more channels overnight i reset it again and its still saying the same thing so im booking an engineer out, we are with satalite direct under warranty so they come free of charge...

Trying to get it today, he said he might be able to get us sqeezed in but its most likely tomo... i said we would be very grateful if he could fit us in as we dont have an antenna in the house so we cant have no tv untill they come out...

they have now just said though that we have to pay £25 for a call out which in the letter we got it state no such thing, but they say we have to within the first 28 days as they have to cover them selves so ive had to ring my mum and she says no, so looks as if we wint got sky this evening now :)

No tv at all, brilliant..

sounds like the lnb is blown, either wait for your engineer, call sky, or (if your technically minded) pick up an LNB (ebay eyc)

I int paying for nothing when we have the aggreement, whole point of paying monthly, there coming out too see us..
 
£5 1st payment was sep, and its not been 28 days, were a few days short so we have the call out charge of £25, he sbeen but didnt have any money in the house so hes coming back tonight or early morning..
