Why is Vista so greedy?

Hi,

Vista is using 29% of my RAM and all I have open is IE, seems a lot. Is it Aero or maybe the Superfetch thingy using a lot of RAM? Surely it doesn't use as much with 2gig of RAM.

Because it caches everything it can think of to ram to help you loads things up. If it needs the ram, it just bins it. I have 4gb and its got 33% load on my ram. I was playing HL2:EP2 with 73% (Highest ive ever seen).

Why? thats the main feature in Vista, IIRC it can be turned off but will only slower your system up.

Memory is their to be used and thats what Vista does very efficiantly so stop complaning and enjoy your massively overkill system.

If you are worreid, have a look at what you have running in the taskbar and background.

I have 32% Ram usage with Vista and have NOD32, Windows Sidebar, Digiguide Lite, Live Messenger & Firefox open.

I have 2GB of RAM.

Which one is it? The top one shows actual used RAM including superfetch. The second is the RAM used by programs.
