We have too many threads so lets have just this 1 thread like the 8800GT has solely for reviews and overclocking information and results. I along with moderators will update this first post with updated information as it comes.

Prices for the 512MB 3870XT on ocuk are £158 for the cheapest and around £130 ish for the 256MB 3850Pro.

Please Note: the NEW 8800GTS cards will be out Nov 19th, so you may want to wait until then to decide which Gpu you want.

that tweaktown review shows the 70 matching the GT and in some games its 1fps faster and 2-3 slower, others it gets owned tho, guess its swings and roundabouts

Photo of the cooling parts on the 3870 (looks like you can keep the ram sinks on and just replace gpu block if u just want a gpu cooler or want a gpu water block or just replace ram sinks, a very good idea AMD/ATI!!: http://resources.vr-zone.com/Firefox...0/IMG_0207.jpg

ive got watercooling myself, if i could fix my maze 5 waterblock on then it would be great and wouldnt need to get a whole card waterblock, just keep the ram sinks on, hopefully some of you guys will test out what fits and what wont and take some photos with different cooling blocks fitted so we know how much room we have to spare or not.

A couple of points to help Anyone intrested

HD 3870's use very little power, My system with a Q6600@ 2.8ghz raid and 2 optical drives runs at 120W in XP desktop and 142W with 2 cards in crossfire

The 3870 is Silent at the expense of a slow fan speed, in a good case they run in the 60's desktop and up to 90c at full load, as Yet I have not found any way of controling fan speeds..Riva tuner comes close but does not work with 2 cards!

The Cards work fine in PCI-E ver1 motherboads and just require a single external 6pin supply

When installed with the HDMI audio driver You will need to go to Your control panel and reselect Your "normal " Audio device as audio will be switched to HDMI if not running through a HDMI

A quality 500W power supply would be enough for Crossfire but I would reccomend a 600w

That's all I can think of now, there should be plenty of reviews around later today.

Yeha Riva Tuner is pretty temperamental at the moment with the fan speeds. On 100% it is definately loud lol! The fan just doesnt need to spin up any faster by the looks of things anyways since the die shrink is keeping things a bit cooler :)

From the feedback and reviews it seems the 8800GT is better than the 3870XT - yet the specification on the XT's are better. Is this down to poor ATI drivers?
