I have one of these mb's with an 6300 cpu, 2 gig of Corsair, and a 7600GT all bought from O/C a year past in September and feel the need for an update.
I was looking at the 6600 quad core and a 8800GT but was wondering if it would be necessary to chage the mb as well, it seems to support quad core ok but will there be a performance hit using such an old mb ?

Let me know if any of you have done the same.

Thanks for looking.

The rev 1 P965 DS3 will run the quad-cores perfectly fine with the latest BIOS.

The only downside of them is that they can only hit about a 360mhz FSB if you're overclocking (380mhz has been claimed but we've seen no evidence of it yet despite the board having been very popular).

So if you're not overclocking, or don't intend to take a Q6600 past 3.2ghz, then your board is fine.

Do you mean 360mhz fsb for the Q6600's, or for all cpu's Cob ?

Does the 'Rev. C2' suggest its not a v1 board?, I should really get under the desk and pull the side off the case.

The system is rock solid at 400x8, stock volts and I'm using an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro.

Going to experiment and see how far I can push it over the next couple of days.

will be clocking my quad when i get my ballistixs back from RMA.

Got a gigabyte ds3 P965 rev 1 also - will advise what clocks i get. Nice clocks.

Did you find the x8 multi was better than x 9 ???
