8800GT heat lock-up problem. Are you having the same problem?

Hi,

I've noticed since I've had my Point of View 8800GT graphics card that during games it locks up frequently. I have to reboot when this happens. I've altered the fan speed from default to 40% using Rivatuner and this seemed to help for a short time but afterwards I still suffer lock-ups. The temperatures here went up to 80C+

I now have my 8800GT running at 60% fan speed and it seems to be fine in all games and I don't experience any lock-ups.

Do other people find they are having the same problem with their 8800GT/What fan speed do you have your's at?

Fan Speed 45% > 65C
Fan Speed 50% > 75C
Fan Speed 60% > 85C
Fan Speed 100% > 90C


Never uses the 100% speed as it never gets above 85C, even with the room heater on full blast, and playing Crysis for a couple of hours!

I've read your post, do these profiles automatically load when the temperature hits those levels or do you manually load the profiles yourself?
 
my 8800 GT does freeze every once in a while for a few seconds, but a while ago while playing crysis during the admirals video speech, it was freezing mabye 4-5 times not sure if high temps are the cause. how do you set up the fan to increase as temps do in rivatuner, i just have it fixed at 60%

Once you've set the profiles as you like them up manually, set the hardware monitor to enable background monitoring and they load automatically.
