Can anyone help me please!!
I just bought a Gigabyte DQ6 X38 board with a Boxed E6750 using a big AVC CPU cooler, my Ram is Geil 1GBx2 (DDR2 800).
When I tried to OC the 6750, the highest I can reach is 430, which gives only 3.44ghz, at multiplier x8, ram at 5-5-5-15, CPU voltage is 1.4V, and I am using 2.00B (1:1 at 333mhz)
Can anyone tell me how can I reach 450 or above? where can I tune further? whenever I reach 450, the system won't boot!
Help please!!

Yeh, that's probably about as far as that RAM will go - the low multi on the e6750 holds clocks back a bit - I've got one with 1066 rated RAM on a p35 dq6 and I'm pretty sure its the CPU limiting my OC, can't really get it past 3.6 stable but the ram is 4-4-4-12 @ 450, temps are nice and low tho...

I am pretty sure it can go further than that?

Why? Sorry, but it's always struck me as dressed-up budget RAM and I can't recall seeing a wave of users reporting top overclocking exploits with it the way we all embraced Crucial Ballistix 12 months ago.

And cross-posting the same thing in different forums is certainly in the top 10 ways to get yourself a forum holiday.

I've heard some fairly good things about the black dragon stuff, apparently having the 8-layer pcb makes quite a big difference with stabiltiy plus it runs well at low volts. It's also half the price of the cheapest ballistics.

OcUK don't claim it's overclocking RAM - their blurb rattles on about eSports and how that market is worth so much money that GeIL have marketed a product straight at it. With Red LEDs on the PCB. Hmmmm.

I accept that it may be incredibly stable at low volts, but I suspect that in this configuration, it's holding back the overclock, at which point the extra £20 for a couple of sticks of PC6400 Cas4 Ballistix might be better value depending on how much you want the extra 240MHz on the CPU clock.

Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not having a cheap pop at the OP - it's just that he has spent a great deal on the motherboard for overclocking, bought a CPU noted for it's overclockability, then bought cheap RAM that doesn't have a good track record for overclocking, yet he feels it should overclock. I was simply asking if he had some information about this RAM ie. it's overclocking potential - that I didn't know about?

There is a very easy way to tell if it's the RAM - drop the multiplier back to 6x and try running at FSB over 430 - if it's the RAM, it's unlikely to boot - if it's the CPU it should boot as you won't be remotely near the stock speed.

I've got 2 x 2 gig of the stuff, they do 800 @ 4.4.4.12 @ 1.9v and 1000 @ 5.5.5.12 with 2.0. I've noticed they don't like 2.2 volts.

Yes they are budget ram, that work on less volts, and I prefer them to my crucial 5300, which have been returned once due to dying. They are now in my matx machine. Overall the BD is good ram, I'm not sure how good they all will be for o/c, but they are great for being stable.
