edit: people, you don't understand! 15FPS is the minimum, if you were to look at my screenshots before jumping into the conclusion of 15fps all the time, you'd see 25-30 is what you'd usually get.

15FPS is very playabe in Crysis. and i have tweaked Crysis myself to make sure the FPS will NEVER drop below 15FPS. i've play tested all the levels using my config, making tiny changes along the way.
so i will make this promise: your FPS will NEVER drop below 15 in all SP levels except the last level.

there is a Dx9 version, but Dx9 version don't have FFT calculations on water, yet it still performs worse, but Dx9 is needed to have good FPS in the last level. (don't know why yet)

goal of this is not only provide very playable framerates, but to also improve on visual and view distance.
list of stuff have been tweaked:
-shadow are tweaked, and a bit of quality are lost from Very High shadow settings
-view distance have been increased, and LOD ratio are lightly tweaked
-shaders, water and post processing still based off Very High, HDR tweaked
-resolution locked at 1440x900. you must open the cfg file to change or disable this lock. (it's very obvious on which line to change)

requirements:
-8800GTX, tested extensively on 8800GTX, but im pretty sure it also works on 8800GT and new GTS with 512MB vRAM
-3 to 4GB of RAM, i've noticed it taking up as much as 1600MB of RAM, so running Vista with this means needs at least 3GB to have smooth gameplay
-a fast processor, best to be Core2 in excess of 2.8Ghz. im using quad core, if physics slows it down, don't blame me.

Instructions and Downloads:
1. Click here to download
2. extract the ZIP file into Crysis install directory, where Bin32 and Game folders are loacted
2.5 make sure your monitor supports 1440x900, if not, change it in the config files.
3. double click on "Run_x62_Dx10.bat" is recommended, if not Vista 64bit, use the 32bit launcher
4. enjoy lag-less Crysis

on my machine, the GPU benchmark gives 34 average, 25 minimum and 40 maximum.
Code:
Dx9 (no FFT water)

here is a direct Dx9 v Dx10 comparison of my config (without HDR tweak on these)
as you can see, Dx10 clearly performs better with my config. and Dx10 looks better, with clearer image and the flame looks right.

To be honest I've seen better looking configs with more FPS in Dx9. :)

Also 15 fps is damn low for a 8800GTX at 1440x900, I got better than that with my 8800GT at 1680x1050 with a better looking config.

you guys remember, i PROMISE 15, meaning you mostly get 20+, on only rare occasions does it fall to 15+

and im not talking about average, average with this config is 25-35.

also, this is directed to those who use Vista, most other config i've seen are all directed to those who use XP, where Dx9 performs very well and performs a lot better than Dx9 in Vista.
but Vista performs poorly, so you can install this and enjoy around 25FPS gameplay.

guys there is a difference between you FEEL playable in Dx10 with all on Very High and it is really smooth.

15FPS in Dx10 with motionblur set to 3 if really smooth, i played though the whole game with mine config (tweaked it here and there along the way) and it's really enjoyable, a LOT more enjoyable than simply set all to Very High.

15 FPS is not playable at all, no matter how much motion blur you have. Though to be fair from your screenshots you seem to be right when you say it doesn't go that low much.

DX10 is slower though, so I don't know why you would use it. To make things worse, I've seen DX9 configs (both XP and Vista) that look and perform better than yours too.

In my Dx9 config I had motion blur set to 3, so Dx10 has nothing to do with it. :)

Honestly, why not just use the cfg's in dx9, looks better than that and just as good framerate.

**EDIT** Oh was this 1440x900 res??? even worse, the cfg I use looks better and fps is also almost as good and I'm at 1680x1050. I'm sure the DX9 version can have FFT calculations? Is that for water that they use in films like titanic?

i'd love to see some of the config you guys use, since in Vista, Dx9 performs much worse than Dx10, especially when Very High effects are enabled, so how can you guys get good framerates is beyond me.

and by good framerates, can you post a GPU benchmark run?

1280x1024 all high in dx9, vista 64 I get 42fps average.

DX9 performs at least 10fps better in some parts for me than in DX10 at the same settings.

Its a little choppy at 1680x1050 tho, I'll post a GPU benchmark at 1680x1050, the cfg.

1280x1024 all high in dx9, vista 64 I get 42fps average.

DX9 performs at least 10fps better in some parts for me than in DX10 at the same settings.

Config I use is:

Its a little choppy at 1680x1050 tho, I'll post a GPU benchmark at 1680x1050, the cfg.
that config have the following things disabled or have lower setting than my config
Code:
r_ColorGradingDOF
r_ShadowBlur
r_MotionBlur
e_shadows_max_texture_size
and xy view distance
and no FFT water
or any Dx10 water effects
so that's why it's got better performance. and besides 1280x1024 is similar to 1440x900. and see, your benchmark minimum is 22, while my config's Dx10 benchmark minimum is 25, with all the Dx10 goodness
try my config in Dx10 at 1280x1024 (need to edit the config files) you'd be amazed at the improvements, especially the Dx10 water

@stellasuppa
that's a very good result
but Shading=Medium and PostProcessing=Medium?? you are not getting what Crysis has to offer!

And have you tried the cfg?

e_water_ocean_fft=1 = on
r_MotionBlur=2

They are on, so what if they are lower at least I get better performance and it looks just as good.

Were you benchmarking at 1280x1024? 1440x900 gives better performance. I'm going to try your cfg when rapidshare hurrys up.

Is it just a simple autoexec.cfg?

You try my config in dx9 and compare it to your cfg, I just tried the DX10 one and it looks hardly any different to the cfg I use yet I'm getting better performance with the one I use.
