Decided to buy a par of shears to DIY hair..

I did..

Apparently 3mm doesnt = a "no 3"

Fail :(

lol! I use the 3mm guard but that's because I don't have much hair left and it looks ok - if you were expecting a "number 3" I'd LOVE to see that! :D

Havent done it all yet so you can see how high it was

:(

Have to laugh though ,did wonder why there was no 1mm or 2mm

Ouch! that's a huge difference! You've just made me realise how thin on top I'm going! :o

Ah well, just grin and bear it and do it all.

That is mildly unfortunate but on the bright side at least your hair looks like it will grow back and since so many people are wearing hats anyway at this time of the year it might not even get that much notice.

I've had a set of clippers for years, it saves me a fair bit on haircuts but more importantly it also means no making appointments ("am I free?", "yes I am" ;)) or listening to inane conversations about who is seeing who now.

Why didn't you start at the highest one? Mine has a #12 attachment (38mm) which is still pretty long :p.

Don't think anyone has explained the number system yet:

The Number corresponds to the eights of an inch, so you gave yourself a number 1. Bravo ;)
