Sorry to hear, would be devastated if my dog was to get ill. He's currently suffering from conjuctivitus which just won't go. Another trip to the VET is needed.

just coming up to 9 years old. We got him from a rescue centre at 1 year.
He'd been dumped by original owners because of a life long colon problem which we successfully manage now.
Problem now is uncertain but symptons include very much reduced rear leg mobility, blood and proteins in urine, very high temperature and obvious signs of severe discomfort
My dog, Seamus, passed away just over 5 years ago now of liver failure, sounds similar symptoms.
My heart goes out to you. I hope it's something that can be treated and that he'll make a full recovery. I felt devastated when I lost Seamus, he was more a part of my life than may parents or siblings.
You know, if things dont go well, think about it like this: you gave him a good life that he wasn't going to get without you. You rescued him and nurse him daily and he's led a good life and that's because of you. I hope you get to spend much more time together, but i know he's appreciated the time you already have spent together!
My dogs getting towards the end now as well, just due to old age I guess, she's a 13 year old lab. Probably won't see her again either because I'm away at uni.
My 21 year old cat died on New years day - didn't think i'd be as gutted as I was but they become an integral part of the family unit without you realising.
They didn't open him up just xrays and cameras today.
Bad news is xrays show cysts on the prostate. They want to wait till monday to give a strong antibiotic shot a chance..
He is on anti inflammatory drugs to keep him comfortable, then on Monday if he shows no sign of improvement they will open him up and biopsy the cysts.
So I guess long term does not sound too good at the moment but we will have to wait and see.
Good luck. I wasn't a dog person until I went to university and my mother replaced me with a border collie. Over the years, and several dogs, I've realised why people have dogs, and why border collies in particular are so highly regarded. Amazing animals.
I look forward to living somewhere one day when owning one would be practical... and, more importantly, fair on the dog.
