hi first post and i am looking for some addvice

i am new here and not to sure were to post this problem, as i am not too sure what it is .

my rig is

GA-X38-DQ6 bois f7 (new) (not too sure what it came with but i have tried a few)
Q6600 go (new)
Akasa AK-925 Revo CPU Cooler (new)
corsair twin 2x2048-6400c4dhx ram (new) ( as recomended for the board by corsair) tested on memtest 1.60 for 20.5 hrs ,58 passes and no errors
320 8800 gts ( old)
Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10000RPM SATA 16MB (old)(windows )
400 gb Western Digital (old)
500 gb seagate (old)
3007 30" dell 2560x1600 (old)
creative live platinum 5.1 ( very old)
windows xp pro 32bit sp2 and all updates
antec 900 case

i have read that a lot of users had booting isues when they first built, mine booted fine but my problem is , when i am in windows and on the net it is fine but when i play on line poker and start to load up lots of tables it will just lock up the mouse and nothing will unfreeze it (i.e. control alt and del) i have had 3 bsod also.

i formatted raptor and did a fresh install and ran into these problems ,, i reformated and the same happened.

i then tried the 400 gb and it was the same

i read up a bit and got memtest 86 1.60 and put it on a cd and ran it for 20 hrs and got no errors

everything is cool in my box ,

any ideas what it can be or can more test be done

thx for reading

kev

thank you for the reply

i just loadded the optimized defaults but i did change the ram to 4-4-4-12 as that what it said on corsair site ? it was 5-5-5-18 but it was doing the same on this setting .

do i need to change any settings in my bios

nothing is overclocked

thx kev

is there any settings on memtest that need changing ? (will run over night and while i am at work)

Optimized defaults is not what you really want, better to set the values manually...

Which of the ram kits on This page is yours, is it This kit?

Go into BIOS, hit CTRL + F1 to get into MIB Intelligent Tweaker:

Try the following settings:

CPU Clock Ratio: 9x
CPU Host Clock Control: Enabled
CPU Host Frequency(Mhz): 266
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) :100
DRAM Timing Selectable : Manual
CAS Latency Time: : Auto = 5
DRAM RAS# to CAS# : Auto = 5
DRAM RAS# Precharge : Auto = 5
Precharge Delay(tRAS) : 15
System Voltage Control - Manual
DDR2 OverVoltage Control - try - Normal (which is 1.80v), if you still get problems try +0.05v
CPU Voltage Control :1.3500
Command to #CS Timing: :2
Performance Enhance : Standard
System Memory Multiplier - Auto (for time being)

Then hit F10 to Save & Exit and see how you get on. :)

no it is the 2meg kit not 4 ,the top one ...

i am up for work now and memtest as been working through the night, atm 9 hrs and no errors .

i will stop it when i amhome from worrk ,

are them settings different now as that was the wrong memory ,,

once again thx

kev

Yes, set the following:

DDR2 OverVoltage Control: +0.15v
CAS Latency Time: : Auto = 4
DRAM RAS# to CAS# : Auto = 4
DRAM RAS# Precharge : Auto = 4
Precharge Delay(tRAS) : 12

hi

home from work and memtest1.70 has been running for 19 hrs on errors

i have change the settings in the biosand will try and load some tables up

thx for your help

hi

ok i played for 45mins on about 18 tables. my screen stoped 3 times but after a sec or 2 startted again but around the 45 mins mark it bsod
 ... i need help on this again

i will change the "DDR2 OverVoltage Control - try - Normal (which is 1.80v), if you still get problems try +0.05v"

and give it another go :(

it cant be the poker softwere as i have tried 2 skins on 2 hard drives
but when i pur on my xp pro sp2 and played it was ok for a few hrs so i went and did all the windows updates ( dont no if there is something there but i cant see it)

also i have a post in the graphic card section about ghosting screen can some one look at that and give me some addvice

thx

i did not mention the psu

it is a colorist m550v it did not cost that much and i have had it about 18 month but it is 550v

what kind of power would i need to run my rig ? but if it is my psu would it not lock up on sp2004 , i ran it for 12 hrs on priority 10 and ran the program 2 times at the same time .

can some of the tech minded of you out there have a look over my dx dia file and see if there is something amiss there

its in a new thread my rig problem

i ran prime 95 for 12 hrs it was still running this morning , and they all said passed

temp on cpu was 64

since i put on f7 bios it looks like i might be running a bit hotter ? (nothing oc yet) i am not 100% on that though ( i got my temp from tat and hwmonitor)

i cant read it, it goes off to quickly, and then reboots

To stop this happening when you get a BSOD, go to:

Control Panel->System->Advanced->Startup and Recovery->UNtick "Automatically restart->OK.....now if you get another it will not automatically reboot...

temp on cpu was 64

This is not too high for this processor, also F7 BIOS is fine.

For your processor temps use Core Temp

thanks a lot you have helped me a lot

i got the corsair 620 psu today and fitted it , but it still does it ,,,,

i think it has to be my 8800 gts its the only thing other than my hard drives that i have not changed .

about the temp dont forget my rig is not overclocked yet ,, and the Akasa AK-925 Revo has got very low temp stats ,just not on mine :(

but if you say its ok , it fine by me ,,

going to run some graphic card test over night, is there any which are better than others

borrowed a 8800 gt today to test if it is my graphic card , but it still doing it ,,

not heard anything from the pokersite

kevc4:

Just had another read through this thread, and if you ran Prime 95 for 12 hours, it is not the usual hardware suspects...

I would start looking at software, drivers mostly, but also XP updates...

Try doing a Google search referencing the poker software you use.

A friend of mine plays poker, and the software she uses has given her system some problems...but not the same as yours...

How many "windows" are you supposed to have open...what does the poker site recommend? :)

hi

i ran just windows xp pro sp2 and no other windows upgrades for some test on both hard drives . i have used the same xp disc for years .

only drivers i had on were the ones of the cd that came with the board . and the 8800 ones

i took out all other hard were ( sound card and even the dvd ,s)

each poker site can open 15 tables , atm i can only open 5 to 12 and it crashes ,

like my screen shot i can load and watch loads of tables and it stops on ok , its just when i play them.

not had another bsod yet just lock ups ,
