Hi,

I was thinking of getting an Apple 23" Display to go with my Macbook - but then realised they are much more expensive that any other manufacturer, and they aren't glossy either. :(

Can anybody therefore reccommend a LCD with the following requirements:
  • Under 24"
  • 1920x1200 native resolution (or thereabouts, higher than 1680x1050 anyway)
  • Glossy (preferably)
  • DVI
  • Looks nice and relatively slim

I guess if there aren't many that meet all that list then I'll have to increase my budget a bit for a 24" one.

Cheers,
Nick :)

You won't find displays under 24" with 1920x1200 resolution - except maybe for a few speciality things which will be much more expensive anyway. Your choices are either to go for a 24" at 1920x1200 - which aren't really especially expensive, you have some selection from under £300, or to settle for a 20" or 22" display with a resolution of 1680x1050.

Unless you're used to small high resolution displays (for example on some high end laptops) then 1920x1200 at less than 24" would seem like a very small dot pitch for most people.

Thanks for your reply.

Yeah I've just been doing some more research, and besides the Apple display the only other one I can see is the Lenovo L220x which is 22" and runs 1920x1200. And it's not glossy either - I think i'll have to cut down my requirement list :p

fwiw, i have the l220x, and even though it is an office style monitor, and limited to just vga & dvi inputs, the quality of the screen is stunning,
the colours are lovely, very vibrant and deep, and the contrast is very good too. plus 0 backlight bleed on mine (unlike my Hyundai W241D-PVA, which is quite poor, having triangular bleeds in the cornors)

my 2p

23" screens offer a 1920 x 1200 res. Put "23" in the panel search here (choose "panel" in drop down box) and you can see loads of 23" models, some of which might still be available nowadays. Can't think of any with glossy screens though tbh. The Hazro HZ23W springs to mind as a recent 23" release
