Been a while since i've used the IR filter, but went for a stroll yesterday. All shots are at Stafford Castle.

C&C welcomed, on all aspects including borders (i dont normally put them on)

thanks guys. i agree about the last shot.. i wasn't too keen on it either. the shot i took looking down from there that i really liked died due to lens flare :(

I think I prefer #1 to #3. The perspective view works better centre frame than off to the right.

Good set though mate, you've got the IR processing down to a T. :)

n30_mkii: The D50 has a much weaker IR filter than any of the latest Nikons (D40/D80/D2/300 etc) so It's much better at IR photography.

thanks guys.

with no1 and no3, i wanted a combination of the two.. but i use using the kit lens, i dont have an IR filter big enough for the 10-20 so couldnt get wide enough!

my borders work ok then too? :D

I think he may have been referring to using your IR filter on the 10-20 while focusing at 12mm. I kinda see how that might work - how would you hold it on though?

the filter.

Well I did this for my 17 - 40 L since the sensor is only seeing the central portion of the lens on croped form DSLRs.

The filter fully covers the actual lens front element and too on the 10 - 22 however the sensor is fully using the EFs lens so you have to zoom into about 12/14mm depending on how you self construct the filter.

This was my 1st attempt when I did it years ago. Since then I have made it on the inside for the 10 - 22 but caution was required due to the actual glass elements touching.

I now own a custom IR camera and no longer use my R72 filter but this is how I would go about it for cropped form camears with larger threads than the filters 58mm (in my case anyway)

ahh reet.

i see. i've not looked at the cost of 72mm IR filters, guessing they'd expensive.
