Hi All, Just got a new HTC Touch which I believe runs Mobile 6 on Orange if that matters,

I want to play some videos but all I get is sound so I assume its a codec issue, these play fine on Vista Media Centre,

I have read that you can install a new video player, but not sure which one (needs to be free:)) and also the websites looked a bit iffy,

If someone could provide a link that would be great, this is my first smart phone for a while, and any other useful apps, so far video aside I'm really pleased with it.

the core mobile media player is the best I've come accross but it isn't free. However initially it was free.

wiki info with links to both options.

It works fine on my pda with a 312mhz (iirc) cpu because its coded to make use of the arm cpu's :)

FWIW, I found the 0.72 release of TCPMP to be as good if not better than the non free final releases, branded as Core Media Player.

It's certainly worth a go before buying the latter.

I tried the free one but couldn't get it to install, so I bought the CorePlayer one for £13,

Now I get this error,

player: Video codec (Windows Media Video 9 Advanced profile) not supported by the player!

hmmm

Hi All,

Yes I managed to get the free one and install the codecs but still it refuses to run, on the tcpmp I get the same error and then WVC1 not supported,

However seeing as I bought CorePlayer I emailed their support and got this reply this morning,

"Hello,

Thank you for writing to the CoreCodec Support Group.
A new update will be available on February 21st that should fix the problem.

Regards, "

So hopyfully this should work, :)
