As title suggests...

What them to be great for gaming and Music please... not too noisy externally ;-)

I have the 555 and they're awesome. But they are open-backed headphones, so they do leak a bit of noise.

I would like to play games at night, how much sound do they leak when you bang up the volume.. i wouldn't want to wake my 3 month baby girl ;-) Would they work in an office environment?

Please please ignore any recomendations given by people for gaming headsets, as these people usually only give recommendations based on hearing headsets and never listening to a decent pair of headphones. They are truly crap compared to a dedicated set of headphones i.e. sennheisers.

I have not heard the 555's but have heard the 595's and 650's through some awesome setups and they are excellent. I still haven't bought some 650s for gaming as my grados do OK for my occasional bit of css or crysis. Surround sound in games is over rated and the soundstage of some senn's or AT's will provide far better positioning than a 5.1 headset, plus there will be no hassle in settings them up, just plug em in and enjoy :D

Search for the cheapest price and try to squeeze out the funds for the 595s, you won't be disappointed. Then think about saving up for a cheap headphone amp, which will improve their sound further. And don't forget that a good set of headphones will sound great for music over a gimmicky headset.

What if i wanted a surround sound experience from my games?

AS adfinni says. Good stereo headphone beats 5.1 headphones as they can create a 3D soundstage anyway, plus they are sound fantastic too.
I fail to see how my Audio Technica A900 stereo phones conbined with my X-fi (when it works, lol) and it's CMSS3D could be bettered for a surround experience in games. I really can pinpoint the enemy coming at me from any direction with my eyes closed in BF2

I would think they should be fine for your girl as you can hear the sound quite clearly but it's not very loud. Loud enough to hear but not really loud enough to wake anyone up. Anyone in the room who's awake would probably get annoyed though so they're not that great for an office environment.

Gosh, there is a fair presence of A900 owners on here, and yeah, they are stunning headphones :)

A little concerned about the noise leak, spending £60 on a set of headphones it would be nice to take them to work every now and again. So what would be a closed headset option - plus are there any as good wireless ones.

Thanks Again ;)

I love 'em!

You could look at Sennheiser RS120 or 130 for wireless, a friend has a pair of the 130's and they a decent considering they are wireless but the same £60 would definitely get you better sounding wired phones.

I think Beyerdynamic make some recommended closed phones you could look into

I vote for the AKG 240S's. They sound good, are comfortable, affordable, and are also semi-open so don' leak as much sound as fully open backed headphones such as the Senns.
