Evening all - jus bagged this bargain on ebay.. in perfect working order and quite exciting!

Its approaching its ninth birthday and I am currently posting from it...

Really does go to show that the longevity of macs is second to none!

Anybody else got any retro gear still working!

Tom :)

Thats excellent!

I was looking at getting a similar model, but it weren't at that price!

Enjoy, and more pics when it arrives...

There's nowt like old mac porn, its for us mature members ;):p

Heh - I was quite lucky and thats it on my spare desk at the moment.. the person who sold it only lived ten minutes away!

Will get some more piccies tomorrow when I've got the time - but i was really chuffed!

@Dr Jones - I know - I couldnt believe it myself... its the G3 400mhz - but its in great nick... gonna up the ram which is dead cheap and I'll be able to actually use it... with current(ish) software!

Really happy with that find!!

Tom

Had to put this on the blog, hope you don't mind me borrowing the image itsallaboutyou ?

Why don't I ever find bargains like this?

Its either a dig at me for my, and I admit slightly overzealous reply to Dr.Jones or somat else.. confuzzled..

Sorry, was me being smutty. 'Cheesy as hell' - I was implying you can get cream for that particular problem.

Not at all sir - I didnt realise the iblog was yours - *looks at your sig* - I had a good nose this afternoon!

As for bargains - I'm not pleased to admit it - but I dont think the seller was as savvy with the prices as some others...

i even got the original posterbook from 1998 i think unveiling the imac... interesting reading!

D'oh! I wouldnt worry dude - I think I misread it! Been up far too long today so any kind of toilet humour is well and truly lost on me!! :)

At least that Mac is going to an appreciator, not someone who will buy and think bargain Mac, fail to use it as they can't bear the "learning curve" and want to watch HD movies / magically create videos / photoshops because they own a Mac and then eventually selling it on half damaged from anger.

Or something along those lines.

Yeah, the blog's mine with the valuable help of Justin and EVH. Glad you found it :)

I've got a horrible feeling I'm now going to spend the next 3 hours looking for my own Ebay bargain !

I suppose so - its obviously been looked after - the lady I bought it from had just bought a couple of c2d imacs so was looking to move it on...

She said she was happy to see it go to a good home - and I was more than happy to receive it!

Its the DV edition from what I can tell (extra ports) but it really is in mint condition!

Just need to up the ram to the maximum 1 gb and it'll have no problems... :)

You should be able to run Leopard, at a tweak. Otherwise, for a word processor, internet browser and basic home use system, £27 is still a smashing bargain for an all in one.

I assume it's the CD-RW/DVD version?

Edit: oh wait! 9 years old... CD version then :p

Not a bad find there, running 10.3 at a guess?

afaik its 10.2...

I only had a little tinker - but within the millions of cd boxes that I got with it there is a 10.3 upgrade disc...so you're probably right!

it came with office 2004 and it runs it quite nipply (if thats a word!?)

All in all i'm really happy!
