Im hoping i can get some quick help (within the next day or so) because i need a stable PC to complete my OU assignment due thursday.

Basicaly, i was just browsing these forums and had mIRC running in the background (which is always running in the background) when sudenly i had a BSoD (one i havnt seen before, ive only ever seen the xp/98 BSoD, not this vista one), i couldnt read it all in time before my PC rebooted, followed by a BSoD loop.

I held power button to power off, then on the reboot i got the added option during boot (previously in the BSoD loop i had the start in safe mode etc...), this time i also had start with last previously known working config, which has since allowed me to get into windows without BSoD.

Edit: Its just happend a 2nd time now, 1hr 15min after the previous time. This time it managed to boot after the first BSoD, it didnt loop into more BSoDs.

Ive checked event manager and there are no 'critical' events, and no error events that would appear to cause this. I have no clue whats going on, so i realy need help sorting this out.

I also need to somehow find out of the booting windows with last known working config has rolled back to old settings that needed updating, so how can i find out what has been changed?

What i need help with is to diagnose the cause of the BSoD and fix whatever caused it so i can continue with my stable system (i have it running 24/7, this is my first downtime in a month and a half).

Ive done a virus scan and a spyware scan and nothing came up, so i decided to try the netstat command, just to see if there is any strange connections.

Some of the things listed by netstat seem to be strange, normaly the destination address is usualy a full url or IP, but when i opened overclockers.co.uk for example, i had 2 things listed that originated from my browser, one to mail:http, and one to ik-in-f103:http (which seems to be something to do with google).

im not sure whats up, i havnt seen things like that in netstat before, normaly it would be something like 123.456.789.012:http if i go to a website, now its cumming up with nf-in-f17:http, ik-in-f9:http etc... and strange things like that.

This is all starting to worry me, untill now ive had very few major problems with windows, and now when i need my pc the most to finish my assignment, im having these damn problems and i have no clue whats the issue.

Just had a 3rd BSoD, and this time it when it retstared, the animated bios logo froze and nothing happened, after a reset it came up with a bios checksum error, then said checking cd, no cd, checking usb, no us, and looped the checks over and over. After another reset, i got an error about overclocking failed (i only overclock my ram, as its needs 2.1v to run, the default voltage is too low). i checked the bios to check temps, everything seems ok, so i closed bios and tried again and it seems to have booted fine this time.

Im going to have to babysit my pc all night instead of sleeping, as this issue is too important for me to sleep over, so if anyone else happens to be awake and knows a way to solve this, please help.

Can you check your advanced settings under startup and recovery and see if minidump is on, if it is it will be set to kernal memory dump. it will also be set to auto restart.

Untick that and set minidump to none, if it then bluescreens it shouldnt restart and u can get the error. and that will guide you to the hardware failure.

To give you an example though my other vista box bluescreened whenever i accessed its network drive and tried to copy anything. Turned out to be the audio driver though it had auto updated with sp1 :p just a guess.

Ok ive turned of the kernal dump and auto restart, should give me time to read the error now.

I was holding off on SP1 for a few more weeks incase some serious bugs were sudenly discovered, but since im getting BSoDs, im guessing SP1 wont hurt, and with any luck that may even help solve the problem, so ive just installed SP1.

Unless anyone else has a clue to what it may be already, i guess its just a waiting game, either im lucky and get no BSoDs, or im unlucky and get them, but at least diagnosing the problem may be easier.

Things have just gone form bad to WORSE! i had a BSoD (Iwas fine for about 20 hours as well) which mentioned system_exception or something and a load of hex along with the standard BSoD msg.

On retstar i get a message saying kernal is corrupt/missing and to insert windows vista cd and restart and repair. while rushing to find the CD the screen changed to a single line of text "BOOTMGR image is corrup. The system cannot boot"

WHATS HAPPENED? please i realy need help now, im trying to find my vista cd to try and repair, but what should i do after that to stop the problem popping up again?

Problem may be hardware related (possibly ram) so i created a new thread here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17862120 incase anyone can help on the hardware side of things.

Also, sorry for creating so many posts and such, but my computer is my life, and these problems have made me quite depressed, even to the point where im starting to feel physicaly sick.
