I've got my 4870 and I thought it would be nice to have a thread similar to that of Big.Waynes.. but for the 4870
.Allthough unlike Big.Wayne I havent done any benchmarking yet as I've just installed it and its time for dinner, but it would be good to see benchmarks from 4870 users and NV users too preferably using GTX280/260 or 9800GTX.
For other games apart from Crysis you should use fraps, to do this just tick the boxes in fraps to record Min Max and average, the results can be found in the installation folder of fraps.

Would be good to see benchmarks in games like the following:
Crymark07
Assasins Creed
GRID
Mass Effect
Benchmarks:
3DMark06
3DMark Vantage
Without AA and with 8xAA @ 1680x1050 of course.
I'll also use this post to post my experience of the HD4870 in full once I'm settled with it and also put my video/s up and benchmarks in Crysis @ 1680x1050, very high, dx10 and 1680x1050, high, DX9 and 8xAA then I'll proceed to bench 3DMark06 @ 1680x1050 and with and without AA and then do some overclocking.
Crysis:
1680x1050, DX9, All High, 8xAA: 33.5FPS
1680x1050, DX10, All Very High, No AA: 25.1FPS

1680x1050, DX9, All High, No AA: 43.5FPS

1280x1024, DX9, All High, No AA: 54.1FPS An overclock to 790/1000 increases this to 56.6.

I'm pretty pleased with Crysis results even if its slightly underperforming!, I'll be trying it in XP soon and trying more games too.
CSS, 1680x1050, 8xMSAA, 16xAF, All High: 344FPS

Everquest 2
Just last night before I went to sleep I tried EQ2, and at 1680x1050 I ran the settings at high, or near the highest one, the second one from the top, anyway this was a lag fest with any card I have had before, 8800GTS 640, 2900XT, 8800GT and my old X800XTPE, but with this card its almost smooth, its very playable, it still has stutters but its a massive improvement over the other cards!, I dont quite know if everyone has this problem in EQ2 but I'm glad I can have some of the eye candy turned on now, apparently EQ2 is very CPU dependant and does things that it could do on the GPU?
I was seeing the frame rate go to 50+ with a minimum of about 25 compared to the GT that went into the teens.
Thanks
Willz.
