Ive decided to play Crysis again with my new graphics cards, whats the best .cfg file to get Ultra quality graphics. A lot of people have created them, but which is voted the best?

Last time i played through i was using this:

Gave me a pretty good frame rate when i played through. E2180@3Ghz, 2Gb RAM, 512mb 8800gt so yours should be much better.

the one above is the best config. out there IMO, plus it comes with custom TODs and stuff, so you get stunning sunrises in the harbour level and what not, running level 5 without any issues here on 8800GTS

Try this out - 5 levels of graphical goodness, if its a new card you say.... hopefully its beefy - so give level 4 a tryout, personally i think its superb!

That's what I use also. ToD selected and level 4. Looks amazing, but my FPS is ~30FPS when I ran the Crysis benchmark with this config.

yeah, and firegod, what you running it on (vista?) because i did fresh install of crysis, 1.2 patch and then slapped that config. and TOD in, and i get 30+FPS but i only have my 17" LCD at the minute so thats at 1280*1024, still looks stunning, try lowering your resolution a tad see if that helps :)

Seconding Xconfig 1.3. It's far better than Cuban's Crysis Config. Better performance and graphical tweaks, including almost heaven-like HDR.

I tried that xconfig thing yesterday and completely messed up me crysis installation. Now it was probably down to me being a tool, but I ended up with "custom" showing in me advanced options in crysis system menu. No amount of clicking would change them back, killed game performance, totally unplayable, took three instals/reinstals to get it working again. Now like I said, this was down to me most likely.
I've found the best way to run it "FOR ME", is to use XP with everthing on high and load up aknown config file, atm I'm seeing fps of 40-45 average which is good enough for me and looks nice too.
Not knocking the Xconfig thing, but I couldn't live it.

'Custom' is supposed to show up when you change config files. If it doesn't say 'Custom', then your config isn't working and you've put it in the wrong place and fell under a placebo effect. Fumbling about, clicking everything to get rid of 'custom' will screw your game up.

In other words: if it says custom you're doing it right! If the game's slow and screwed up, you're doing it wrong! :p This goes for every config, not just xconfig - and they're all fragile so leave them alone in the game options or delete the actual config file from your root Crysis folder (or in the case of xconfig, use the uninstaller exe that came with it) if you no longer want to use it.

I figured that and I would have been happy with leaving in had the performance been acceptable, but when you're getting low teen framerates it kinda spoils the experience:p
I'm not the most pc literate of ppl (its me age dontcha know) and I wish some of these ppl that make these mods, etc, would give more comprehensive (dumbed down) instructions for numptees like me:D The prob I had was I couldn't find the option to change the "custom" setting to a less demanding one to get me framerates up to an acceptable level.
Anyways, like I said, I'm not knocking it, it looked absolutely stunning when I was standing still, the problems started when I moved:p
