I'm considering getting some cheapo speakers (gigabyte 6500) for my gaming pc (as it's in the bedroom)

i've got an xfi music, are you able to have headphones & speakers plugged in and decide in windows which one to use (i don't want to have to unplug headphones all the time)

loved my Game Theatre XP, because it had the volume/power switch on the front panel :(

Some speakers like Creative's have a socket for Headphones on the Wired Remote Volume.

Your problem is you need unplug the Speakers to plug in Headphones AFAIK (the Green Socket).

You could use the "Creative Audio console" or full blown "Creative Console Launcher" to switch manually between Speakers and Headphones and don't set the Headphones to Auto Mute the speakers so you can leave both connected all the time.

cheers for the reply

so whilst head phones are active, speakers are muted? (and visa versa)

which connections at the back should i use

-sorry for the multiple questions mate

That's your issue here, the Headphone socket at rear is the same as the Stereo Socket (green).

I ONLY avoid this due to the Front Panel.

If you used a Splitter you would have both running all the time.

You could try Google for the Pinout from the card and connect to your PC case Front Sockets..

so the flexi-jack isn't able to do this?

i don't have front sockets, i've got an old school CM case :0
