At last it looks like we have some competition in the 24 inch S-IPS market.

I've waited months for the Hazro revision and like buses, along comes another option. The HP LP2475w should be landing around the same time as the Hazro. For any other obsessives who haven't seen this yet, have a peek here:

I know it doesn't look as nice as the Hazro, but it is packed with features and the cheapest I can find it so far is £419. If the Hazro goes up in price, I'll plump for the HP anyway.

So does anyone have thoughts on the general quallity of HP monitors?

Heh, it may not be an lcd monitor, but I'm still using a HP 21" 1100 CRT monitor that's been in daily use for around 13 years, and the components HP have used in it must be of the highest quality, still going strong with zero issues! I've seen many a monitor (friends and work) hit the skip in that time!

The HP is wide-gamut, so if that rocks your boat/is a necessity then go for it but remember you'll need a calibration device to tame the colours.

It's probably using the most up-to-date LG.Display S-IPS panel, the WU4. I don't think anyone else is using these, so it's a bit of a gamble in that respect since it could have horrendous input lag or ghosting - who knows!

The panel shell itself reminds me of NEC, looks professional...until you look at the stand and barf all over the place!

WHy do they choose to use such cheap looking stand designs?

Good point philjohn about the wide gamut - although I'm sure I read somewhere else that's the same panel in the Hazro.

Yeah the stand is an absolute POS. It's only goodness is the height adjustment.

That was posted by me, had my wires crossed! The HP will be the only 24" using it as far as I am aware (at least in europe).

the 23 and 24" Hazro's remain standard gamut, which unless you are doing print photography or pre-press stuff will be more of a hindrance than a "feature".

Also, the quoted price by HP for that monitor is 470 ex vat, hence it's dearer than the Hazro.

I had a 23" S-IPS l2335 for just over 3 years, it was a superb display. I only sold it on because I picked up a 3008.

Does the HP have a wide gamut because it has more back lighting than the Hazro using the same panel?

In a nutshell, kind of; it's not the same panel though (panels are manufacturered with the same backlighting across the board) so this will be the new WU4 panel that LG.Display have on their products PDF.

I thought Panels are manufactured then the Monitor manufactures Build the unit with the panel to their specification including the electronics and back lighting , at this point they can decide on cost which type of backlighting is used W-CCFL for Wide gamut etc?
